Gintani: Race or Sport?

Read all the threads listened to the comparos on youtube. ( honestly sound very similar at least on youtube) ... need fresh advice from those that own or have owned this exhaust, or have heard it ...

Here is what I am looking for and need your advice..

I went from stock to ESS exhaust, and ESS had a deeper tone but essentially it is the same as stock ...disappointing.

I am looking for louder than stock, something that is loud enough to be worth spending the money for.

On the flip side, I don't want something that is going to set off car alarms and make grandmas ears bleed.
I am not a drone baby either...I like me some drone...Had a corvette with corsa Extremes...but I would like to hear the radio without having to turn it way up, when cruising around.

Since I am just going axel back and have no plans on doing anything else...what would you suggest?

If its axel back will the sound be similar? Drone more with race I am sure but close to same as sport since only axel back? Or is the race crazy louder no matter what?
what about the Hybrid is it still offered ....? Anyone heard it?

THANKS EVERYONE FOR THE HELP!!!

I have owned 2 Gintani Race exhausts. They're not way too loud as people make you think. It's perfect. Won't even be as loud as the Corsas you're used to. The exhaust does drone though, but so does the Sport.

My vote goes to Race!

You need to put the stock exhaust on to remind yourself what stock sounds like... or get your ears checked. None of those exhaust are anything close to stock.

Sounds like you want a Race exhaust- it should be loud and drove until your ears bleed, which sounds like what you want. I'd also throw in Eisenmann Race into the mix.

Seems like you enjoy that deep bassy sound. If you can handle the drone, I say go for the race and don't look back.

Maybe !! but then half the people on this forum need to get their ears checked too. It's not only my opinion...read it all the time on this forums.
Plus, I am unsure why you would say that I want it to make my ears bleed.... I put in my original post: "On the flip side, I don't want something that is going to set off car alarms and make grandmas ears bleed." ??

So if I am just getting it only axel back, is there a measurable difference in sound versus the Race and the Sport? Or since its axel back is there not much of a difference...??

The Akra already sets off alarms sometimes. The Akra can be heard down the street just driving 20mph in my neighborhood. People always turn and look when I turn onto my street, but you call it stock sounding??

You need a race exhaust. It'll sound badass, but will drone.

Say what ..........these sound nothing like the stock set up. If it's a deep bass that you are seeking these aren't the answer...........Phil

Let me leave this here..................... http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthr...=akra+vs+dinan

Hulk hate puny sounding exhaust for big money...
Hulk need noise to make purchase worth it...

My comments were directed on thise systems to axel back only. The Dinan in your video is Catless...so yea the sound is better. Dinan and Akra axel back IMOP sound is too close to stock.

To hopefully get this thread moving back in the right direction I have removed my opinion/comment on AKRA and Dinan so that all the fan boys who purchased these exhausts dont litter this thread defending their purchase....

This is the the focus of this thread:
... need fresh advice from those that own or have owned this exhaust,

"This" exhaust is Gintani Race or Sport ( Axel back)...

There is a middle ground that I seek...that doesn't set off alarms but yet sounds much more agressive than stock......not too quiet not too loud...
I clearly state in my post: "Since I am just going axel back and have no plans on doing anything else".. So going catless, like your video shows ...is not what I am looking to do ...your catless Dinan is not an axel back Dinan and does not sound like an axel back Dinan...which was what my original comment was directed to.

With the help of actual Gintani owners (thanks for the PMs) and a discussion with Gintani - they advised me on picking up the "sport" -since it will only be axel back... I think this may be my middle ground.

Okay I am going to eat my words and I don't care. I will admit when I am wrong.....
about the Akrapovic, ...hell I guess I didn't know what I wanted.. so I made sure that I went out and listened to both ....in person.

I have to thank Mryder for putting that clip that got me thinking....about the Akra. Mryder, your Dinan sounds great bro but I don't plan on doing anything but an axel back.

A friend of mine put me in contact with two buddies of his that had the Gintani and one that had the Akrapovic....(both had just the slip ons) I was able to drive around for about 15 minutes in each and honestly I completely changed my mind about the Akrapovic. When I heard it last time, it did not impress me....but this was multiple years ago when I was driving a Corvette with 700 HP and Corsa Extremes.

In fact, I was so impressed by the Akrapovic..( the sound, the way it looks, the Titanium tips, the weight reduction!) I came back shopped around for a day or so and bought the slip on today...from Golan at Need 4 Speed Motorsports. http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=971021

Thanks Golan, Sorry Gintani....the sport system is a great axel back, but the Akra gives you aggressive when you want it and quiet when you don't...

You are probably right but I think the sound characteristics is what differentiates them. The Gintani is a very bassy/boomy exhaust hence why it sets off car alarms and drones like crazy. The Eisenmann is a little throatier and doesn't have that deepness.
