1m,m3 & csl
is this anybody on here, interesting to see how close the 1m & csl are, having come from a csl i think the 1m feels quicker as a everyday car, though did think the csl would win on top end power & quicker gear change.

So the E46 CSL is the camera car, an E92 M3 is coupe is next to it, then a 1M on the far side? The CSL is ~3050 lbs and ~355 hp? All cars are stock?
Very close. The CSL only stayed ahead by virtue of the SMG, as you said. The 1M got jumped due to the turbo lag, but it was right there. Interesting, nice comparison. CSL laps the ring :25 seconds quicker than the 1M, supposedly. I wonder how much of that's tires?

The is only anecdotal, but there is an experienced driver here who tracks a CSL.
On one of our power circuits (two 900m straights), the stock 1M tends to win out eg 1-2sec. On a slow, technical circuit (12 turns over 3.0km), the CSL tends to win out eg 1-2sec. When an experienced racer drives the stock 1M, however, he or she can may run even on the tight circuit (whilst dominating on the power circuit). Not sure about fast, flowing circuits, but the weight advantage might be expected to win out for the CSL. |
