M Sport headliner?
I was expecting my M Sport (with every package) to have the anthracite/suede headliner. It does not. It is some sort of polyester knit material. Is this what everyone has or should I investigate further?
Thanks y'all. Happy Mardi Gras. |

anthracite is not a suede. It's black and a rough textured type of weave. Not a great way to explain it but closest I've got. I have it on 2 BMW's.

Yes. It's normal. The alcantara is usually reserved for actual M models unless you custom order it.

Ok. Makes sense now. I was confusing the terms (alcantara vs anthracite) Thanks, this helps. I'm ok with the anthracite. I just didn't feel like dealing with them messing up the order.

I think anthracite is a type of coal. It refers to the color, not the material. Maybe an alcantara headliner will be available with the upcoming X5M.

I love my anthracite headliners. They are black. I can't imagine having an interior like mocha, terra...and then have a gray or beige colored headliner that doesn't come close to a match. On my 2011 5 series they were able to order the Anthracite headliner ala carte'. Back then it cost me $500 extra. Obviously it is not a listed option online, but if one does not want the M Sport package but wants a black headliner then just ask...and push if necessary. IMHO it's worth it. A really cool look.

Agreed. I used to have a VW Touareg V10 TDI with saddle brown leather. It had a beige headliner. I always hated it. I vowed to never have one again.

Looking back, having had the alcantara/suede in my previous M cars, I think I actually prefer the regular material. The suede always showed fingerprints and other marks. It was almost impossible to keep perfect.
