Any issues with a stage 2 tune without test pipes?

I'm wondering if there are any issues running a stage 2 tune before having test pipes installed?

I was scheduled to have the test pipes installed the day before the tune, however I was forced to reschedule the install. The tune is now installed and the test pipes won't go on for a couple days. I won't be driving the car until the day of the install. But on that day I'll need to drive the car to work before taking it to the shop for the install.

I'm assuming there won't be any serious consequences/issues as long as I drive the car really mildly. Am I correct in my assumption? Or is there anything I should be concerned with?

No issue at all..... You can drive it like you stole it and the stage 2 tune won't affect anything running the stock cats!

Stick with 93 octane and you should be fine

I ran for about a month with Dinan stg II and then BPM stage II while still having the stock center section installed. No problems.

No problems for me either. Had my BPM stage 2 tune for a month or two prior to having test pipes installed. I confirmed this exact question with Mike - he said there's no issue whatsoever if there's a delay in cat removal after tuning.

Enjoy the tune and test pipes!

We suggest running 93 octane on cars that want to run the Stage 2 with the stock exhaust system.

Thanks for the help guys. The test pipes go on this afternoon. We get 92 octane in Oregon, which is more or less California's 91. I just kept the driving to a minimum and took it easy. No issues.

Need a bit more info. What specific tune are you referring to?

You will be okay, have fun with it!

I think that it's funny how a certain someone wanted to be helpful on here until he knew the tune.

And why that would even matter. It wasnt always that particular tune offered right?

We should have a no vendors chime in unless asked clause in the forum agreement. Too much bullshit.

Will Stage II software with primary and secondary Cat pass OBD2 readiness?

Will it pass California STAR SMOG? Or will a reflash to stock be necessary once the vehicle is brought back to "on road" usage?

If you have the stock cats on the car, might as well just flash the stock tune back in for the smog test.

This solely depends on the tuners strategy on dealing with the lowered back pressure changes from removing the primary CAT's. Most do not even know how much it's lowered by because hardly none of them ever did this test.
If the strategy is done a certain way then detonation can be caused.
If it's just a case of a basic switch off the codes for CAT efficiency then it's perfectly fine to use. If the strategy involves valve overlap changes then it should not be used. It's won't be dangerous but it will actually most likely lose you power.
If the tune is a simple CEL light removal one over a stage 1 then it's perfectly fine to use.
A quick example on this, when we do our headers on the E39 M5's and we use the VANOS changes on a car with stock headers we actually lose power.

What if I am catless? Will it pass the obdII readiness test? I am not worried about the sniffer...right now.
