ESS has arrived- now the fun begins!

Just got home from a 5 day work slog in Seattle area to find an early Christmas present on my doorstep. The cans and rear stems are satin black and the tips are brushed satin. Should look good with my JB paint. I will post up soon with install and sound clips.

It's actually the BMW OEM indoor cover. Really is a nice piece. Almost has a flannel feel to it. Wouldn't be worth a crap outdoors but perfect for indoor storage.

Interested to see how the rear section alone sounds. Surprised at how well the ess exhaust is selling so fast

A member here posted a pretty good compairison video with just the rear section vs stock. Honestly its a mild change in sound at best. An x-pipe or TP's would really make it come alive though.

Very nice looking exhaust OP

No question this is sort of a mild upgrade but I don't want to overwhelm the intakes, that scream is so much a part of this car's signature for me. In talking to Roman at ESS he said they were looking for something that wouldn't drown the intakes, would not drone or rasp, that actually was not crazy loud @ around town speeds and at WOT would still wail in a very dynamic fashion, even with just an axle back app, although the full system and tune is where it gets really hot, apparently, but still without drone or rasp and not stupid loud at idle and around town. I decided to take it a step at a time. Admittedly part of this is cosmetic for me- to get rid of that nasty OEM muffler and tips. Thus the black cans. Install is Friday. Can't wait.

Don't overwhelm the intake noise, smart move. It took me a few race exhausts to realize how much they drowned out of that great front end noise. It's nice to have a balance between the two.

I hope you had a chance to play a little in Seattle.

It's actually called the BMW Form-Fit cover. Part # 82110421547. Looks like they are $300 to $325 online. It was part of my deal when I bought the car.

Unfortunately, I didn't. Too many power meetings to complete. Did manage some killer Thai and seafood. But what a beautiful part of the world it is. Great friendly folk, too. Living in the midwest all my life I always measured goodness in people by the hearts of Hoosiers and Yoopers. But I think Folks in the Pacific NW are right there, too.

BTW, I was in Lacey WA for a day, and saw a beauty... AW E92, dropped, carbon fiber splitters, maybe a tint? CF roof? Wheels, I think ...I was flying by in my Impala rental and saw you late at the red light. Nice ride, Bro! You were on Marvin at Quinault, headed north.

It is definitely the oem form fit car cover. I actually just sold mine on the forum a few days ago. I definitely should have asked more money because it looks great.

Reputation of the company for great C/S, then some of the sound and vid clips in the forums, but foremost- a long conversation with Roman. It was very clear to me with their exhaust design they had realized exactly the sound I was looking for. Hint- imagine the number of cars w/modded exhausts they have been able to drive with all the SC installs they've done. Ability to get black satin cans with brushed tips was big. And I love their tip design. Finally, I had heard live a number of other brands and though a handful are really good, there was always a minus. Drone, rasp, too loud, too expensive, tip design etc etc. Pretty sure I've ponied up for the right one. We will see...
