Maddad Exhaust

Looking to upgrade my exhaust...I am between the maddad whisper and maddad street.
How much louder are these then exhaust? I like my 135i to have a...subtle confidence. Not a honda civic BRRRZZZZ noise that can be heard blocks away.

I like snaps and crackles in my exhaust and an aggressive rumble.
This will be the only upgrade right now in my exhaust system but I would like to add some BMS downpipes. Debating whether to add high-flow cats or catless but that will come later.

Anyone else had this problem deciding?

My MadDad Whisper with catless downpipes is a tad louder than I'd like it to be. I'd guess it's a little over twice as loud as the stock setup.

I do not have videos. I think there were some MadDad Whisper with catless dp videos already on this site back in the day.

I have the Maddad axle back with N55 mids and stock DP's and I would like it to be a little louder. In general it is pretty quiet. On cold start ups it sounds great, but once it warms up it quiets down significantly. When you get on it you can definitely tell that it is not stock and the tips are some of the nicest I have seen as far as size and staggering.

I went with the B&B (Billy Boat) muffler delete axle back exhaust with black ceramic coated tips. The price was right and the sound is agressive but not obnoxious. Definitely all the burps and burbles you would like. At WOT it is intoxicating.

I would not go with the street if your also doing downpipes, it will be extremely loud. I've run a Berk street, the Active Autowerkes and now the Maddad Europsport (all with Berk midpipes) the Berk street is probably one of the nicest and reasonable volume setups out there, I love my maddad street with my berk mids but I know that if I get some downpipes this axleback will have to go, my car is already loud enough for my friends to hear me a block away inside their houses and I've heard a few local 135's with muffler delete and downpipes and its obnoxious.

Thanks for the input.

I've been reading around and I'm looking at:
Start with an N55 mid pipes
Do an upgrade for catless downpipes
leave the stock axleback alone

I'm hoping this gives me a happy medium

I could be wrong, but I think I remember reading that people who installed DP's, N55 mids, and kept the stock axle back said it sounded terrible on a N54 engine.

Maybe someone who tested that set up will chime in.

That leaves you fully catless. Is that what you're looking to achieve?

I have had the maddad mids for a bit now and am really surprised that the car is so loud. I do have Cobb, which I didn't think had any influence on sound, but after going back to stock and reinstallling Cobb, I've definitely heard the difference. Something to keep in mind... I think even with the mids alone the exhaust sound is almost too loud. I prefer the deep rumble to loudness. If I could find an axelback that would be able to achieve this, with the catless maddad mids, I would buy it.

Not sure to be honest. I love the performance benefits of it but it does come with the drawbacks:
Noise
Smell
Emissions testing/legality

I have maddad wisper, everything else is stock as far as exhaust.
Its n55 engine, so i have stock midpipes. As others said, this set up is a little louder than stock, but you can tell its not stock.
Someone told me that n55 stock axle back is very restrictive and my butt dyno confirms that.
But yours is n54 right? Anyway after installing cobb 1+FMIC, this car is flying now. Kills my stock e92 m3 up to 100mph by 3 car length.
Beat my brothers sl 63 with PP by 1 car length, but he is not a very good driver.
So, if you dont want your car too loud, go with my set up and you will not be dissapointed.

I get compliments on the sound of my MD every time I'm around car enthusiasts... I just wanted something that wasn't loud but free flowing. I probably wouldn't trade it for anything, unless it was a dedicated track car.

It does have a lower rumble now that I've swapped from catless to catted AR DPs

Can anyone confirm that the Maddad Street is as drone-free as the Whisper when running cat-less downpipes?

Well the Whisper is drone-free with the AR Catted DP's that I just had installed along with the N55 mids.

I can tell you with the maddad whisper + maddad mids with catless sounds awesome. I think street would be too loud. Regarding berk setups.. I have run both and I can tell you a lot of people think the maddad sounds better. The maddad has deeper tone too it and more pop the berk sounds god but not as loud.
