Has anybody replaced shocks/struts?

Was just wondering of anybody has had shocks/struts replaced, and what mileage did it need to be done? I just bought a used E90 and the inspection turned up some cupping on the front tires (which may just be alignment issue), but wondering if I should pursue shock replacement before the 50k warranty is up. Car has 45k on it right now. Seems like they would last longer than 50k, but better safe than sorry.

Thanks for the help!

EDC or not?

I thought my '08's ride was getting harsh at 55,000 miles. I went with a Dinan Stage 3 for EDC, which keeps the original shocks. The car has been transformed. The ride feels nice and supple again, while cornering flatter than before. It seems the new springs and bushings improved the ride of my car, and replacing the shocks wasn't necessary. The EDC shocks are pretty expensive, too. List is about $800 each, although I've seen them discounted to the low-mid $600 range.

I'm at 65k miles. 35k of those on Eibachs. No problems yet. My ride was getting harsh but it turned out to be my tires wearing out. After tire replacements, the ride is compliant again. I would just do an alignment to see if that works out your issues.

Yes on EDC. Brand new PS2's, so I assume they've been aligned properly (bought the car out of state and the dealer put the new tires on). It feels a bit loose in the front. Just wondering if I could get the dealer to look at it under warranty, or if there's a particular mileage they adhere to before considering shocks needs replacement.

If it doesn't feel right, take it in.
