Is this what I think it is? Sounds like Turbo whine after a 1st gear pull. Any one have the same issue? Noise I'm talking about is from the 8-10 second mark.

could you elaborate a bit on this? Bearing issues? Common issue? Turbos are screwed?

Are you talking about the sound at the 8th second of the video?

I don't really hear much from the video, but I can hear the turbos whining everytime after a hard run as I let off the gas. They're still spinning in there ya know?

Hahahah really? Yes buddy I know they are still spinning but the sound sounds very whiny as if there is a bearing going bad. I know the issue with the waste gate is a common problem but wasn't sure if this was also.

Its normal if you're on it and let off. It's just the turbos spinning. The turbine makes noise when it spins at 100k RPM...

Thing is, just recently it started getting louder like this.

That didn't sound like turbo whine to me...sounded more like your transmission/drivetrain.

Is that with clutch in or out? If out, put the clutch in and see what it sounds like.

It does it regardless of clutch being engaged or not. I doubt its a throw out bearing or anything to do with the drive terrain.

Wasn't trying to imply it was anything "wrong"...sounds pretty normal to me...similar to when I hit 6k or so and let off the gas...however, mine is an automatic.

Some times if I do hard pulls at end of band (Like 6000RPM) or shift hard I here a squeak that sounds like pulley belts slipping... I have yet to figure out what it is but im thinking its my clutch slipping or something.

**Does not sound like your issue though.

Is there anything more sexy on a cool spring day then the sound of a turbine spooling up?
Maybe if there were two turbines spooling up and were singing in harmony?
If it were up to me and I was BMW...I would have made 1 turbo just a little bigger than the other just to get the girls to sing =)

But yes it's very normal.
To keep turbos alive invest in very good oil.
When you turn her on in the mornings give her a solid 1min to 2min to get the oil moving. And after a very long hod drive allow her 2 min or so to wash off the super hot bearings.
Yes you do have an electric water pump and that's very nice but your oil pump is still engine driven, so that little 2 min gives that hot oil so leave and cooler oil to cool things down.
I got 130k miles from my 1.8T VW and it was doing just fine when I sold her.

i allow mine to cool off and start up about the same as this. you really got to think to yourself though about what is a hard drive and whats not. for instance if you're coming off the highway or the interstate and you look at your oil temp gauge and its just about halfway and you were driving about 75-85 mph the whole way, then i would let it sit for 2-3 mins when you finally park your car. yeah the 2-3 mins gets boring but its worth it. very good oil is also key

best of luck op.
