Z4MC brakes fit on Z4 3.0i?
Tried to search but can't really find definitive answers...
i'm wondering if its possible to do a straight swap on my 3.0i to Z4MC rotors and calipers. also my winter rims are OEM 17" would these fit over these brakes? can you Z4M guys put 17"s on your cars? Thanks! |

My initial opinion is that this is not a "plug & play" swap. The caliper mounting points for your current brakes would not line up where they need to be for the new brakes. I'm not sure if hub size is an issue as well. As for the 17" wheels clearing the larger brakes, I doubt it but this point is moot if you can't do the swap to start with.

No it will not work, to much modification needed. Just get a pair of slotted rotors and hawn hps pads call it a day.

X2 Z4M suspension is a different design using some components from M3. For street the Si is fine. For limited track, pads and discs will give slight improvement. For serious track, car upgrade is recommended.

The Z4M rotor will fit with the performance brake kit off the 135i as I've done already. Looks better than the stock Z4M calipers anyhow and cheap to find. Just a simple mod to the carriers is all that is needed.
Works with your stock brake master cylinder as well and EXCELLENT braking is gained for low cost. The Z4M uses the front suspention off the E36 M3 where ours are off the E46 3 series so theirs different mounting points. |

this is a common misconception. the z4m uses a similar suspension setup, but not one of the major parts (strut, knuckle, control arm, etc...) is interchangeable with the e36 m3. the brakes are interchangeable with the e46 m3 csl/zcp, but that's it. the rest is for the z4m only.

Is it correct that the supplied (135i) carrier needs a 3,5mm washer between the carrier and the mounting point on the kingpin?
Afaik the carriers are made for a 338mm disc (as supplied with the 1 series), but I don't know if that disc has the same offset (I think they have) Then you can choose: smaller disc=less weight=better handling or bigger disc=more weight but better heat dissipation. For the rest a z4m is basically a e46 m3 (maybe alternate diff gearing or so) |
