BMW Performance steering Wheel

I have ordered this wheel to install on my z4mc. I also ordered the m3 airbag and steering trim piece.

From looking at videos, they look be compatible from the adapter standpoint. Anyone think of any issues I am going to face?

I will document the install if anyone is interested.

Wish me luck.

are you near FT. Lauderdale? I'd like to check it out when you get it. I might even be able to help with the install once I find an apartment here and settle down (2-3 weeks)

I'm in the Hollywood/Ft. Lauderdale area. Hope you get settled in without issue. Iwould be glad to show it off if and when it all works out.

Parts should be arriving next week. The only part that might not be included are the actual steering wheel buttons. I know on the z cars the buttons are included when you buy the wheel, but I don't think they are included with this wheel.

It won't fit without major modifications.

There is a large centering spine which is not compatible with our cars, so it won't fit on the column without grinding this off. also the pass through outlet for the steering wheel controls and airbag wires does not line you so you need to dremal a much larger opening.

Also the buttons are not included. Niether are the screws to hold them into the trim.

But if you got the time and willing to put the effort into it. I think you can make it work.

Cheers, and GL.

I guess I need to buy the buttons and screws, but I know it can be done.

This guy did it, and in the comments claims it was easy. I doubt that, but if any can figure out how to contact him let me know.

Yeah, is this confirmation that the spline pattern of the performance wheels matches the z4? Also, any idea what the diameter of this wheel is compared to the stock z4m which is already pretty tiny?

Thank you.

A good amount of grinding was needed for the cutout to the harness. And other minor issues came up.

If I had to do it again, I might have just gone for the e46 competition alcantara wheel. But I love the flat bottom and the blue line for top center.

I grinned the spline to avoid any issue, but our hub is not like the e9ers in that the spline lines up to a specific spot on the clock spring. Rather there are two plastic points that needed to be aligned to keep the turn sign return functioning.

As for size, I would say its about 1-2 inches in diameter larger than stock.
