Front Rotors glowing red during hard braking

I was out at Streets of Willow for a twilight event this week-end and reviewing my pictures I found something interesting. My front rotors are lighting up under hard barking.

I don't really know what to think of this. I never noticed this with pictures taken during day time. I'm running stock caliper/rotors with Endless ME20 racing pads. I didn't notice any loss of braking performance while on track but I was freaking out when I looked at the pictures back home!

My question is basically this: Is this normal? Or should I be worried?

Here are the pictures:

I think it illustrates the importance of a cool down lap!

I have a video of a clean lap in the dark. The section of the track that the pictures were taken are at 0:04 - 0:15 (going around the skid pad).

Let me tell you that it is pretty scary in the dark It took me just about an entire session to get used to it. The main problem I had is that I couldn't see far enough and I couldn't see the edge of the track on some sections. You can tell from the video the areas that I was hesitating.

That is spooky as sh$t with little lighting provided. I hope your eyes were doing better than what the camera captured.
Look through the apex, ha, look for the apex

Actually, the camera captured pretty well how it was. It might have been just a bit better in real life simply because you see at a wider angle than the camera is capturing. But as far as lighting condition, that's a good representation.

You said it perfectly... forget looking through the apex, just be happy you find the apex This made it hard to get the right turn in point. Also, every corner is pretty much blind, you don't see the track out point until at least the apex. You're basically going by memory.

Most corners had a light but one in particular that didn't gave me some troubles. It's at 1:08 in the video, going downhill and you have no idea where the track ends... I wouldn't hug the inside of that turn so much normally but I didn't want to all of the sudden find out that I ran out of track

1:30.25! Nice lap time, especially considering that it's a night event!

Joel tried to talk me into running at night and I said "lol"

The problem is that neither me or my car can handle heat I was at Buttonwillow June 1st with Speed District and I had to short shift the entire day to avoid getting the warning light on my dash. As soon as I was pushing a little, warning light came on. Temperature needle was just below 300, almost touching it. The night event was great to get some track time without the sweat... although a bit scary I admit

It's funny how some wait for winter to be over to go tracking... I'm waiting for summer to be over so I can go full on

Jeez! At CVR in May and June, mine was around 285. So, I'd do 2 cool down laps right in the middle of sessions, and then may be get 1 or 2 more hot laps before the checkered flag came out.

Indeed.

Some track buddies of mine and I were discussing a possibility of not tracking July and August and just waiting 'til September. But, I don't think I can stay away for 2 months, lulz.

Wow... some of those areas you REALLY have to know the track well to have confidence going in so quickly at night.

I'm running Endless ME20 Front and Endless MX72 rear. I don't have any cooling ducts.

^Funny coincidence... I'm running Endless MX72 front and ME20 rear!

(Was ME20 front & rear, but wore out front ME20 recently. And, this time, wanted to try MX72.)

Try adding the M24 oil cooler to your car. It lowered my oil temperatures by over 25C......
