Question about OEM BMW Performance brake disks

This might be a dumb question, but if I purchase the OEM BMW Performance brake discs for the front and rear of my 2012 135i, is anything else needed? Basically if I purchase them can I just switch out the stock disks for the performance ones and not have to change the calipers?

Ya they will fit. All the performance brakes are is stock 135 calibers painted a different color with drilled rotors.

I've been thinking about doing this as well. Anything unusual about the switch out? Is it easy enough to DIY?

If you have done a brake job or changed rotors before, it is a piece of cake. A couple suggestions... 1) Spray the rotor retaining bolt with penetrating oil and let it sit for a couple minutes before trying to loosen it with the allen key. These bolts tend to stick and it is a PITA if you strip the bolt. Also, these bolts should be replaced when changing rotors. New bolts may come with the performance rotors (I can't remember). 2) When removing the front caliper, don't try to remove the caliper by removing the 8mm allen bolts on the top of the caliper. These bolts are a bitch to remove and have industrial thread lock on them. Instead, remove the two hex bolts that hold the caliper bracket to the strut. I believe they are 17mm.

Somewhere around here I heard it is possible to buy the rotors separately. One could do that and paint the calipers.

Of course you can buy the rotors separately! That's what the OP is talking about doing. Here's the link. It's usually recommended to change pads at the same time if you have more than a few thousand miles on the current rotors but it can be done without swapping. Let me know how it goes! I plan to do this in the next several months.
