Drive from Sydney to Gold Coast

So...me and the gf decided to drive up to the Gold Coast to visit her Pop.
What a killer drive that was.. Long story short QUEENSLANDERS you guys might see a Blk on Blk 135 from NSW.. Lol

But just wondering driving after 6-700 km + does the steering wheel become very lite or is it just the road driving up here..?

The steering wheel seem to have a mind of its own lol

I did the Brisbane to Sydney run and back last year, spread out over 2 days. I didn't have any issues with the steering but I had hardcore pains in my back about half way into the journey, I think mainly due to the stiff settings on my coilovers.

Well done mate..

Have done that trip many times mate. Would stop off and visit my daughter at Coffs, then continue the next day to my outlaws on the Gold Coast.

How many hours is it to Brissy?

All I can keep thinking is "Ian's track tape would be on my packing list for a long trip like that" lol

Do you guys suffer much damage to the vehicle from road debris? any?

depends a lot on the route but allow 9-10 hours from sydney. there is always a good chance of a stone chip

100%... all the major stone chip areas would be covered..

Couldn't give a fuck how bad it looks, as long as the car is protected to some degree..

Ahhh good to see a bunch of people who enjoy a long distance drive!

Here's what I'm planning for later this year... give or take a few different roads here and there

*ah crap uploaded the wrong image... the one I meant to put up extends to Adelaide via GOR.

Exactly my thoughts. Enjoy the car, don't spend all your time worrying about marks.

On my last road trip up there in my LEXUS i suffered from MAJOR depression due to stone chips aye..
it maybe because of my tailgating the BIG ass semies trailers LOL
i learnt me lesson now..

So with this trip I have stayed well away from then
Im washing my car tonight hope i dont see any unwanted damage.

Waterfall Way out of Bellingen, great drive and even greater ride. Bloody cold in winter on a bike though not as bad as you Mexicans cop it down South.
Great ocean road is amazing but it's hard to have a fang there because of the traffic and cops. Wouldn't mind a summer place in Apollo Bay with a fishing boat in the marina. Check out the golf course right on the beach with stunted trees bent over like arthritic hands from the fierce winds that lash the place.

Went to Tassie a month ago and hired a car for an eight day drive from Hobart to Strahan to Launceston with the missus. We will go again and next time I'll take a decent car across on the ferry. Brilliant roads and mid week travelling means virtually no traffic. I can see why Tassie has the highest incidence of hire car accidents.....you can't rubber neck and steer through 50corners per kilometre at the same time.

Enjoy the driving while you can. Verily and I say unto you the day will come when we are all tracked by big brother and fun will be paid for.

1000km after taking delivery of the 135i I drove to Surfers via new england hwy. Its a good road in most parts but have to watch out for holes. I was keen to get some more km on the car ASAP to proceed with break in. I spent the night in Armidale. That time I went via Warwick and Beaudesert in qld, but in the past I went on the Bruxner hwy through Casino. Haven't really explored all the minor roads. Just near Warwick I got a small chip in the windscreen. Sad about that, but the paint seems dosen't seem to be damaged because I am super careful not to follow trucks too closely. I also wax the car regularly, but some stains need the paint cleaner to get them off.

Love Tassie. GF & I are contemplating semi retiring somewhere near Hobart in the next year or two. I can fly in/out for jobs here & there.
