Another misfire thread...

Hello guys, I didnt find where to introduce my self, so IŽll do it in my first thread. This one. Im from Chile and I have 135 step with Jb4 and dpipes. It has 25k miles. I installed Jb4 about 3k milles ago and its a brutal mod. Very happy with it. Nice forum you have here...congrats.

So, my misfire problem only in tune modes (maps 1, 2 and 5)...

Error code misfire cyl 6

I changed spark plugs and coils and the misfire continued on the cyl #6. So I swaped the #6 cyl injector with the #1 cyl injector waiting to get a misfire again and the error code on cyl 1, BUT it fixed.

What might have happened in there?? Or the misfire will come again soon??

Thx for the help... and sorry about my english

Humm.... thats wierd. I guess time will tell IF its really fixed.

Btw... Did you use BMW dealer bought spark plugs? I have heard that aftermarket Bosch plugs bought not from BMW dealer can cause issues.

I see you have a N54... did you ever have the injectors and HPFP replaced? What year is your car? Early model maybe?

These SIB's might interest you...

Oops I see...

Mine is 2009

I didnt check the number when I swaped them. I will wait if the problem comes again to check the number, but I dnt know if that recall could be used in my country. Hope so.

Heard from where by who? Someone at the stealership? Really though, I'm on my 3 set of plugs bought from the cheapest place I could find off amazon at the time and have had zero issues. If it's the same part number it should be to spec IMHO.

It was from two or three posts I saw on the e90 forum.

IF you know anything about the way OE's spec thier part suppliers... the parts you buy at the dealership are not the same as those you buy at any indi parts house. They might look the same, but it is not the same quality part. Often times seconds or thirds. Now will that be an issue.. probably not. But I did see some people say they continued to experience misfires until they bought a BMW-Bosch plug from a BMW dealer.

Btw... I don't think the spark plugs you used say "BMW Bosch" on the ceramic core. Only BMW OE parts say that. The aftermarket ones will just say "Bosch".

I felt the problem again yesterday, but just a little. I didnt get the check engine light I the error was not registered. I think the fuel pump could be the problem...

If that is the problem, do you think I should buy the OEM or an aftermarket one?

thanks
