Window goes up, and then half way down?
I have an issue when closing the roof. The passenger front window goes all the way up, and then it goes half way down again. When it's in the middle, and the roof procedure is complete, I lift my finger from the button and press it again, and the window goes up.

Been there, seen that, had it on my car first week. There is an window reset procedure but I can't remember it now. Do you have BMW assist? Call them and talk to a technichian. If not go back to the dealer and they fix it in no time. There is something like when roof is closed open all windows and keep pushing the button for 10 seconds then close and hold for 10 seconds. But I'm not sure about the procedure. But have not had a problem after BMW reset it. Not fun with dancing windows, especially when in GBG where it always rains ! I had to :-)

Is this it?
Ensure that the doors and the Roadster's convertible top are closed before initializing. 1. Open the window completely. 2. Press the switch 4 times within approx. 10 seconds. Afterward, perform the following procedure twice for each window: 1. Close the window completely by pulling the switch. 2. After the window is closed, keep pulling the switch for approx. 2 seconds. 3. Open the window completely by pressing the switch. |

looks like a BMW procedure :-) I can really don't remember as the techguy told me afterwards what he'd done. I don't think it can hurt to try doing it.

The was a service bulletin put out on this last year, if what you're having trouble with is the window going up and then going back down. A relay has to be installed to allow the rear windows to lag slightly behind the front ones upon closing so that the pinch protection mechanism doesn't kick in. Reinitializing the window doesn't help this problem.

I been talking to my dealer a few times about issues users of this great forum posts and every time i'm always been told that there are no upgrades, no callbacks, no bulletins so i almost belive they pulling me off. HPFP maby is the biggest of them. There are no recalls in Sweden about the HPFP (that i know of) and there are no extended warranty of the HPFP (that i know), nothing of waterleak in the boot, etc, etc. US is a big market and american consumers are more important to BMWAG than a few vikings complaining. I have not had anything sent to me from BMW except bills! I think BMW just take the cost if a few cars break down during the very short warranty period (2 years), then BMW are homefree over here. I don't think the bulletins are worldwide as I haven't had anything done to my car of all the things I've read about. Including the "dancing windows" just a fast lane fix of 15 minutes. No relay installed. And no dancing windows since the reset. Maby I'm just lucky. Have no warranty anymore so I guess I'll see the dreaded yellow light soon?

amazing...only a 2 year warranty period. I can't understand how they offer different warranties in different parts of the world. I guess your cars are built better than ours and don't require the same warranty!

Yes, it feels kind of strange that my warranty is up after the car been sitting in a garage for a year totally and with 10000 kilometers on the speedo. Our cars is rather so badly built they don't give more than 2 years warranty! Thinking of doing an AD next time As long as it's not built in October I think all cars are of the same quality |

Remember the good ole days when windows didn't need to be reset, you just turned the little crank. I don't think you can buy a decent car with manual windows.

However, that cranking motion is still the universal sign for "roll down your window". That's the only time you get to do that.

Considering how the windows in the Z4 automatically drop half an inch when you open the doors and then roll up again when you close them, this would be a major PITA with a manual crank. And you'd need another crank placed outside the door, which would surely ruin the lines of the car
