Please Help Troubleshoot Codes P2629 and P0030
So I fixed the last code which was a P2198 code, it turns out that the intake elbow that connects to the filter was loose.
But I am still getting the list of codes below. 1. P2629 O2 Sensor Pumping Current Trim Circuit/Open Bank 2 Sensor 1 2. P0030 HO2S 11 Heater Control Circuit The car cold starts like normal, no idle fluctuations and everything runs good. I have to reset the codes every time I drive the car. It will not thow a check engine light while driving the car but when you turn it off and start it back up the codes re-apear again which is weird. The car drives fine and gas mileage is the same around 14.5mpg on the city. Any advice? Replace the Upstream 02 Sensor on the Bank 2? Is Bank 2 located on the driver side or passenger side? As of the P0030 Heater Control Unit code do you think it has something to do with the tune that disables the cold start boom? I have mine disabled to avoid waking the neighbors when I fire up the car in the morning. Thanks. |

Definitely sounds like an o2 sensor to me. IMO, the tune would either disable the sensors or it won't, no in between. You may just need a replacement.

I don't think it is wise to disable the upstream 02 sensors which deals with the Air Fuel / Ratio that gives the correct data to the ECU. What if I just ignore the codes? The car drives like normal and there are no issues at all which is weird. |

The dealer charges $350 for a new one. I also need to find out if I just need to change the wires it might be grounded from being splashed with water. It was raining hard last month and there were a lot of accumulated puddles of water on the streets. |

Water shouldn't have been an issue.

The Tech is correct, its a front 02 sensor. If you aren't going into limp mode you should be fine but I would still have it replaced. If you are running a xpipe with no primaries and are worried about taking it in, you can buy a new 02 sensor for around $170 at Steve Thomas BMW, a vendor, and have it installed.

Here is the page..http://www.bmwpartspros.com/parts/20...icleid=1446321 For the rears I wouldn't mind an aftermarket replacement with rear 02 delete, just the fronts are so critical. Also at www.getbmwparts.com you can get the actual OEM sensor for around $215. Dave

The car is not going into limp mode do you know why? I'm thinking it has two front 02 sensor and the other one is working correctly that is why the car is running fine with 1 front sensor? I know if you have a faulty front 02 it will throw off the signals to the ECU and will give incorrect fuel mixture readings which leads to misfires and what not correct? Anyways I will order one just in case the price seems reasonable and it is an easy fix. So Bank 2 is the one on the passenger side if you are under the car correct? Thanks again. |

So when you had the same issues you also have the P0030 code with the P2629? Now I need to figure out which side is Bank #2. Thanks again. |

I'm confused. If 1-4 is on the passenger side and 5-8 on the driver's side then bank 2 would be on the driver's side.

These last two posts have me confused as well. So bank 2 is cylinders 5-8, but drivers side? I have the same code, and i replaced the bank 2 sensor 1 a few months ago. why would it go bad again?
