Fun with side markers
Ive always hated these things... They really stuck out once i put all matte black emblems on the car, so i bought a can of Plasti-Dip and had some fun.. also unplugged the lights.

If you thin down the hamburgers to about about 50% of their thickness, they look much better and still retain their function.

anybody have any tips on cutting down the sidemarkers to make them slimmer. I read what bill wrote about it with using the dremel etc.

That's exactly what I did, just have to go slow to prevent melting of the plastic. Worked great, will try to get pics up.

1. Place an index line on the clear sleeve and base at the 6 o'clock position with a permanent marker.
2. Using a dremel tool or a jeweler's saw cut along the first row above the base on the sleeve. This leaves some plastic to true up the sleeve if you get out of alignment. IIRC there are 4 rows total on the sleeve. 3. Chip off plastic sleeve from base. 4. Shorten and true sleeve to the second row. 5. Index sleeve on base and mark the location of the light hole on the inside of the sleeve top (backside of roundel). Drill/dremel a shallow hole for a recess for the light bulb. I did not go entirely through the plastic for this hole. 6. Clean off chips and shavings, realign the sleeve to the base, and glue with a good quality plastic adhesive. Notes: I chose not to remove the roundel from the light sleeve, but you need to be careful on how you hold/secure the cap when working on it. The roundel is attached using a two sided adhesive tape which can be easily separated and replaced if you wish. Use a continuous bead of adhesive to ensure a weather tight seal when attaching the sleeve to the base. Mine is now over 4 years old and looks like new oem. It's a surprise how such a small change can alter the flow of the car.

I'd like to keep the roundels, but lose the lettering on the hamburger, for a cleaner and more iconic look. Anybody have any thoughts on how to do this easily? (alternatives to completely remaking the logo cap? I've seen the totally custom fabricated hood ornaments before.) Maybe vinyl?

You could scour Ebay for roundels you want, cut off the back prongs, and glue them on in place of the OEM roundels.
