What color kidney grille?
guys, My 2012 JB w/ bamboo M3 just finished production and i will receive it at the PCD in late May. the days are DRAGGING
re: grilles. what would you recommend for the most NON after market look for my girl? color matched grille? black grille? (i know JB and black are close, but not the same) carbon? can you state WHY you think your choice fits my criteria best. it's a tad ironic, but i feel as though the chrome looks more after market than black, but i just need to figure out WHICH one to get. also does anyone know if the crew at the PCD will install these changes if i ship from IND (or some other supplier) directly? i already have the reflector switch outs (in JB) that i was hoping i could do myself, but i am really really not handy when it comes to such things. thanks in advance |

The only way to have the non after market look is to stick with oem (which i think looks best anyway). But of your choices I would say get the all black ones. CF or painted scream after market imo.

so black and not color matched (Jerez black) on the exterior? i think oem chrome is too flashy. ironic i know but it looks more aftermarket to me than the all black (especially on a Jerez or Jet Black)

If you want to stick to an OEM look you need to keep chrome OR go for gloss black (like the M3 GTS).
IMO if you colour-match the JB or go for CF it will give it a more after-market look. It really depends on the rest of your mods though. If you are going to make quite a lot changes then you could pull off these ones. If it was me, I would do gloss black.

I hear what you're saying but I actually like the contrast of the chrome, especially on black cars. To me, all black grills on a black car makes the front end kind of blend together and takes away some of the detail. |

I have a 11/2012 built one, jetblack/black and the first thing I did was putting the oem glossy grills and oem black side gills on...looks terrific I also have the oem black exhaust tips and soon I'll be doing the oem exhaust mod and I'm on the edge of putting them on then...not 100% sure yet though...

I have Jerez, too. The chrome helps the front end look distinctively BMW, especially driving down the road. |

I went with edition black chrome for a spell and am now back to my original chrome. It looks classier and adds contrast. If you're after more of an aggressive look, the OEM black chrome is the way to go.

I have edition grill and side gills and think they look good in jetblack. Take a look. The gloss black would also look good but the real look will come with any other mods you plan on doing with chrome, all black, or mix of gunmetal and CF.

I've always put the matte black grille's on mine. I love the look and I too go for the subtle, blended, non blingy look.
Just ordered my new ones for the e90 from TurnerMotorsports... |
