installed lux h8 v3 angel eye kit, that heat sink gets HOT!!

So the install was a pain in the ass like it seems most peoples goes, but it only took me about 25-30 minutes...what i did notice that scares me is that the head sink part of the bulb/module gets pretty damn hot even after running the DRL's a few minutes...this is normal right?

You haven't done any coding to your angel eye voltage have you?
Only thing I can think of, other than a faulty set of lux

heat sink does get hot..IIRC I remember luxangeleyes posting to let the bulbs/sinks cool for a few minutes after running if you do plan on handling the lux unit...

have you pm'd/contacted lux directly?

It definitely gets hot, v2 have burnt issues.

you won't gain anything
the brightness won't increase with more voltage
but the LED drivers will need to dissipate more heat, which is not a good thing

i was actualy interested in seeing what the minimum voltage for them to work is, and lowering my voltage to that.
the lower the voltage, the cooler the heatsink
the better for the headlight

FYI, that's the purpose of a heat sink.

Exactly!!!!! the aluminum heastink is designed to get hot and dissipate the heat away from the LED's. the LED's we use are high powered so therefor they draw Lots of current. most of that current is converted to light, but the remainder is converted into heat. The aluminum heatsink is designed to get hot but keep the LED's at a safe operating temperature.

Our recommendation - not to touch the heatsink if it has been on for more then 10-15 minutes. Let it cool down for a while first.

Do we need to be careful where we tucked the wiring harness of the Lux light? If it is touching the heat sink is that okay? I'm not sure I paid much attention to that as I was closing things up. I just wanted to be sure no wires got pinched.

I was not careful either. I am pretty sure wires are touching the heat sinks. I installed them a long time ago and left them. Pulled them open about a week ago just to see and I saw no evidence of burning or melting. I think it'll be fine even if it's touching.

No the power supply will not be affected if it is touching the heatsink. It would be better to make it not resting directly on top of it, however sometimes its unavoidable.

I have the power supply out of the way but what about the wires? Can they rest across or touch the heat sink?
