OEM gloss black grills/gills that match the trim?
Ok, this is driving me nuts. iNd has "BMW Edition" grills, BMW has "BMW Performance" grills, Turner has BMW "black chrome" ... and so on. Way to make it simple I just want the OEM ones that match the M3's gloss black window/mirror trim. Part numbers are all over the place too For the front grills I have: 51 71 21 55 451 51 71 21 55 452 but also: 51 13 79 79 349 51 13 79 79 350 For the side gills: 51 13 79 81 105 51 13 79 81 106 but also: 51 13 79 79 351 51 13 79 79 352 So which are they? And where to get the best deal? Thanks in advance! |

There are two versions of the front kidney grilles. There are BMW Edition grilles that are black chrome. Then there are BMW Performance Grilles which are gloss black.
However BMW only offers the editions (black chrome) for the side grilles on the M3. Here are BMW Edition front grilles on my M3 to get an idea what black chrome finish looks like.

Jesal,
So what you're saying is that there's two version of the front grills (Edition and Performance) but only one version of the side gills? (Edition only). How weird is it that BMW would offer the gloss black Performance grill but not the matching side gills? Makes no sense to me. Would you say the Edition stuff matches the stock gloss black trim well (window surrounds etc)? |

Correct.
The edition set are very popular as we have sold many with no complaints. They flow nicely with the black trim throughout the car. If you are only looking for an OEM solution then its the only real choice in terms of the side grilles.

kaiv, I have the edition grills and gills on my sedan and it seems to match the trim pretty well; however, i don't believe it's an exact match. if you'd like, i can take some shots of the car tomorrow and send them to you so you can see them on an alpine white sedan...
if i'm not mistaken, the gloss black grills/gills IND has would be the closest, if not exact, match to the trim. I went with the edition set and I'm very pleased with it... |

IND has gloss black ones? Any pics? Can you link me to them? I saw they have the Edition, matte black and color matched grills; I must've missed the gloss black |

Kaiv, will take some pics for you tomorrow... the gloss black ind grills/gills are the IND cosmetic package...
http://parts.ind-distribution.com/product/IND%20Cosmetic%20Package-IND%20Cosmetic%20Package^407.php the picture on the main page shows the gloss black, but the the link shows a color matched version. they do have gloss black though... |

Great information Jesal!
With the BMW Edition Black Chrome grills, are the grill slats also black chrome or are they matte black?

Thank you thank you! I appreciate you taking the time to take and post pics
They look great! If I look closely I'd say the Edition stuff is a little lighter and more charcoal than the window trim. I might go with them; assuming the IND cosmetic package pieces (gloss black) are not OEM. I just like OEM quality for this kind of thing. Thanks again! |

That would be great for quality and fitment although I would be a bit concerned with the finish. From what I've seen resprayed grills tend to chip really fast unless you do a professional prep/paint job. |
