Taking ///M emblem off engine cover to replace (how?)

So I bought a used 09' m3 a few weeks ago and for some reason the original ///M emblem on the engine was really scuffed up where the 3 colors are and so I ordered a new one from getBMWparts.com, but was curious how does one go about properly taking this thing off and how would be the best way to adhere the new one? I know some of you must know since some people have the german flag colored emblem on there and other things. Thanks

Use fishing line to cut through the old tape, goo gone or similar product to remove glue residue and if you bought an OEM replacement, it will already come with 3M tape on it to adhere it.
