Post 135i.... Racking my brain
So I am one of those people who gets bored of things quickly. It's unusual for me to keep a car beyond 12 months so it amazes me I have kept the 135i for 18 months now.
However as things go, I put a lot of mileage on my car and I do need to eventually turn them over to makesure they don't become unattractive to the second hand car market. Here is my conundrum. What is my next car? Let's say i have $80,000 - $100,000 to spend. What do you buy? Thoughts - E92 M3 - Very similar in so many ways to the 135i (i have driven one). It is an upgrade, but I'm not sure whether it'll feel all to close to the 135i S5 - Drove one before i bought the 135i, just not as fun C63 AMG - price jump and in the end from all accounts and reviews the m3 trumps it TTRS - A bit too girly for my liking. What have people moved onto? |

Are you wanting to stay small car or what? Could look at a Porsche 911 Turbo, or Carrera 4s, or any of the other models. That is my conundrum as well, I don't know what I would replace my car with other than a 1M honestly. I just enjoy it so much and don't need 4 doors at this point in my life.

I am 25. I have a job which requires a reasonably presentable car (rules out a wrx sti etc).
I have no kids. No girlfriend. No dogs. - 2 doors is fine, impractical is fine. I want bluetooth & nav, love sunroofs, hate convertibles. 1M is an option but I would buy a 2008 E92 M3 before I bought that. |

If youre spending 80 -100K a used 1M with around 5000 miles would be perfect for you

The E9X M3 is a complete animal given the right conditions, it's a huge step ahead of 135i. It also depends what sort of "experience" you're after - I would vote new Z4 35is if you want a looker or a used C63 (would pack a lot of km's tho) if you're wanting something mental.
For me I went with a Super Datsun. |

Lotus Exige & Z4 no interest.
C63 has been on my mind a lot. But you're right - big kms. 1M - Feels like it would be too close the the 135i, not much of an upgrade for the money (i know it's an upgrade but not enough) This test really shows the 135i was amazing value. Seems like you really need to be in the 120 - 140k bracket for a subtantial jump without sacrificing age/kms |

What about a F30 328i? Good engine from all accounts and great handling (less weight up front and engine is behind the front axle) and if you're doing a lot of kilometers then it suit more?

Keep it
Maybe a M3 that's probably older then your current car or a high kms C63 AMG Plus the market is shit house at the moment. Prob take you 6 months+ to sell your car unless you trade it in. Plus no offence I can say it because Im 24. I wouldnt buy a performance car off a 25 year old. Unless it's in a parents name and you can trick the buyer. Once again the market is crap I've got the 2nd cheapest manual 370z in Melbourne for sale atm plus it's sliver. Just tosser time wasters coming to view it. Keep it dude. There's nothing worst changing to unless your heading into 120k+ |
