Help needed after Dealer Survey

Hey guys,

So I took delivery of my 135i on Dec 14 after ordering it July 7 (22 weeks). The overall experience was not very good, and I let the dealer know that in the satisfaction survey that they sent to me a few days ago.

At any rate, the general sales manager called me yesterday to discuss and apologize for the whole ordering process, and lack of transparency. He asked me what he could do in order to make up for the inconvenience, etc.

I am not sure what would be reasonable to ask for from the dealer since I truly believe that I am owed something. I was thinking maybe a 1200 mile oil change free of charge or something along those lines...

Any ideas?

Hey, if that makes you happy - go for it. Also worth considering - free performance pedals, BMW Sun Shades etc.

Yeah I would ideally like to get some form of accessory out of it, but I've already got: Pedals, Tint, Grilles, Rubber Mats including Trunk Liner.

Any other ideas as to what I can suggest to them?

One thing that the sales manager said was that even though the radio static noise is "normal behavior" by BMW standards, he is willing to try to replace and fix that since I brought it for service a few weeks ago.

Ask them to do the PPK 1. That would be a nice trade for your 22 week wait.

Damn that's almost 6 months of waiting, PPK seems like a nice way to patch things up.

Didn't even think of this guys, really appreciate the input. I am definitely going to be asking for that. Any idea as to how to go about asking for it? Very new to this...

Good luck...I will admit, 22 weeks would have sucked big time waiting for such a sweet ride, but getting a PPK for free would def. help ease the pain.

Keep us posted on what the manager says.

What was the reason for the delay???

was the ship stuck in customs? did the car get damaged at the port? or did the dealer loose the paperwork ??

While I was at the dealership ordering my car the salesman drove me around the lot to look at cars with options I was interested in. At point we stop and he says "what's that on the hood of that car". We take a look at it and part of the hood is sheered through.

On our way back into the office he mentions it to their GM who said the delivery truck ramp failed and dropped on the hood of the car. With the fact that it took a little over two months to order my car, I could see that error doubling that time for the unfortunate person that ordered that car.

If you can get a free PPK upgrade I'd say that is not an unreasonable request in exchange for your wait. But almost 6 months? I'd like to know why.

Things can happen between your order being placed and the car being delivered that are beyond the dealership's control (like the poor guy whose car got smacked by the delivery truck ramp). But these things should be immediately communicated to the customer. I was shocked to find out that my car almost got hijacked by another dealer in California before it was put on the boat to Hawaii. How do I know? I found out from another member of this forum who it was offered to by his Cali dealership.

Are you interested in the BMW Portable Pro? It doesn't appear you have navigation and the Portable Pro is a BMW branded Garmin integrated with your radio. Phone calls come in over the radio speakers, etc.. There are two pieces, a hardware price that is pretty similar to buying the high end Garmin and dealer installation. Maybe they would give you the installation if you bought the hardware?

Yeah they have already told me a few times that they have no idea why. Pretty bizarre to me, but my car looks and feels great so other than the wait I am fully satisfied.

I had a similar issue a few years ago when I bought my G35. I was able to get a front splitter, unlimited oil changes with pick up/drop off from my house, and a full set of snow tires. Not a joke, I got over $2k worth of shit.

I've put my order for 135i m sport with stage 2 upgrade in in november 2011 for a match 2012 delivery. But this was on purpose as I wanted a 2012 production with a 2012 compliance. It's been a long wait. Would of felt longer if I wasn't expecting it. Though am now getting antsy for it. Got about $8,000 off the price so was happy about that. Have you heard from the gsm yet?

You're local to me... PM me the dealer name and who you dealt with, if you don't mind.

update: the general sales manager called me back today and said that since the PPK1 is ~$1200 he would be able to pay half. Bullshit.

I am real pissed that he couldn't do it free, any ideas what to do now?

Well... the PPk was only until the end of the year. Have you asked Dan@United or Tischer what the price is now? Why not make a counter offer to your GM?
