Anybody running Challenge "Street" X-Pipe with Dinan Rear Section?
I just installed my Dinan exhaust this weekend and I love it. Big props to Ilya @ IND for making making it happen. The goal was to keep it quiet in the cabin and Dinan delivered! No Drone in the cabin is what I was after as this is my DD and family hauler.
I need to keep my primary cats to pass emissions in MD and was wondering is anyone running the Challenge Street X Pipes? I know all of the power is gained when removing the primary cats, but I don't want to deal it failing. The Challenge Street looks like a good option, but not in love with hacking up the middle section and they claim a 10 HP Gain. I wanted to see if anyone has run this setup and either loved it or hated it and went back to rear mufflers only? How much louder is the car going to get by removing the secondary cats? I'm not trying to piss off the neighbors! Should I just leave it alone and be happy with CAI/Tune/Exhaust and move on to suspension & brakes? F/I not an option right now. Let me know your experiences. Thanks!

I went a different direction & just had a quality shop delete my secondaries on the factory pipe. I love the sound for a fraction of the price. http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=643935

The sport x pipe makes negligible power gains. Not worth it. You get a slightly throatier exhaust note. I wouldn't do it unless you really want your car to be louder, because you aren't going to notice the power difference. To get power, you'll want to look at deleting your primary cats.

I have the Challenge "Street" X-Pipe with an Akra Slip-on. I went this way because I wanted as much added performance as reasonably possible while being able to pass the State of Massachusetts vehicle inspection process. I also wanted a minimal impact on my warranty by the dealer.
This has been a perfect combination to me. The Akra cleans-up the underbody look from the rear as the exhaust cans are barely visible unlike the stock or the M-performance exhaust. I also like the Akra tips as the have a high-end/exotic look. Finally the sound is perfect to me, nice exotic classy sound without any drone and not excessively loud, a nice balance. The weight reduction of 31 Pounds is also nice. Last edited by MJM; 02-22-2012 at 09:35 PM.. |

so, about 2.8% more power? whoopee. I dyno'd a fabspeed secondary cat delete/x-pipe and gained nothing. My Challenge Sport X-pipe, on the other hand, made power, similar to what my Akrapovic did.
