11.11@126.99 - VAC Motorsports E92M3 | VF Engineering VF620

Hey guys,

Since our man Akash is making things happen on the drag strip, we had to give it a try. We are road racing guys through and through, but I convinced the team that it is OK to go in a straight line from time to time A supercharged E9x M is one of the best cars on the road...period. We had a respectable first day at the strip in addition to many all out sessions at NJMP. This car never ceases to amaze us!

This is the first time we had our E92 M3 on the strip - so there is room for improvement. We made 10? runs and this was our best pass. The car WILL run 10s once we figure the car out.

We had a hard time getting launch control to activate every time...honestly not sure why but we will get it sorted.

I was wondering when we would see some more on the VF SC. I saw some glimpse of a few at mfest but never saw one in action. This is great. Thanks for posting.

Awesome work Mike. Good to see Nik has the kit up and running well. You were able to do a long standing burnout, which is really what you need to do to get these supercharged cars to hook up all the way down the track on DR's, good stuff. Honestly I'm not sure what you can improve upon, a 1.7 60' is outstanding! Nicely done.

I believe currently that is the quickest, boost only time.

Nice times Did you use launch control on the runs that were posted? Also, with the DCT transmission how did you manage the burnout?

OP - i'm amazed... that is amazing time for out heavy M3s. did you do any weight reduction on the car like removing seats or sound deadening or whatever? lastly, what HP did this car hit on the dyno?

thanks in advance =)

2008 cars can do standing burnouts as long as they have not received the BMW dct update. 2009+ models, are not able to do a standing burnout, when you apply the brakes the ecu disengages the clutch, the only way to enable it is with a dct software change.

Thanks guys. We need to break into the 10s!!

Stock front seats were replaced with Racetech 4009Ws for road racing purposes. No other 'weight reduction' We need to weigh this pig when we get back from the PRI Show in Orlando.

We are running the latest BMW DCT update. BUT we installed an ar Design line lock to simplify matters. It will be removed before we go back out on a road course Yes, launch control (when it would activate  )

More details on the car:

Good stuff on the LL, your frustration with LC is justified, many of us DCT guys can relate. When the car was NA, and before I received the DCT upgrade I could do burnouts, and ran an 11.8 all motor, with bolt ons. At the time I did not know the DCT upgrade would disable the standing burnout option, when I went FI I simply thought the extra power was overheating the DCT and it would go into safe mode, so while supercharged I was never able to heat the DR's up, and couldn't muster a good 60'. I'm able to now with an software change, but a functional LL is the way to go. Great info Mike, and again excellent job, 10's are certainly possible!

Thanks Mike, I think it could have went 131 if I had full traction down the track that night, and could have heated the drag radials up, if I just could have hit your amazing 1.7 60' , I may have hit 10's.

Ugh, we need to sort out why it doesn't work every time. Just need time! We are leaving for the PRI show tomorrow, due to return on the 6th.

That is FLYING. No doubt you would have been in the 10s. We went with D.O.T. ET Street Radials...I like the 'street legal' thing. Once we build the engine and go with big boost, we will explore the limits with these tires then trade for all our drag tires. Of course, we learn the limit of the DCT too

Yea, I think 11.11 is the record for an all boost run. Records are meant to be broken though

Looking forward to getting our own VF M3 on the dragstrip again as soon as time allows.
