Another CEL/SES question

Sorry for the noob question. So I bought a used, new to me, 08 M3 about 2 months ago. A couple days ago I had the CEL on the dash for increased emissions. I ended up having to drive for another 50-75 miles to get home. I started the car later and the light was off. Hasn't been on since. My question is, is there a chance there may be some kind of mod done to the exhaust or is this something I need to get checked?

You could always look under the car.

Yep, lifting and looking under was probably going to be the next step

If the light was on and went off, it sounds like your gas cap may not have been on tight?

As others said, the best bet is to read the codes. If the light went off, I wouldn't worry about it. There are multiple checks that are performed, and the light will only turn off if everything checks out to be ok.
