Motosvs tune, chip? Wth is this?
I recently bought a 2008 m3 and there\'s stickers this guy placed in the engine bay and car saying motosvs programmed. First thing that came into my mind was this is some eBay chip that does nothing. I tried searching but could not find any info on it. Any help on how to take it off or what it does ?

Never heard of the tune.
You could have the dealer flash everything back to stock, but they will of course charge you to do this. Another option is to have one of the vendors on here flash your software. I know Mike Benvo has mentioned updating people's factory software for them. Finally, you could also upgrade to one of the tunes available here - ess, evolve, dinan, oe, pc, etc...do some searching - there is a ton of info out there. Good luck! |

Yea - I would certainly not be comfortable running a random tune, never heard of them personally. As Singletrack mentioned, best to either have it reprogrammed by a dealer (to the latest software version) or a tuner such as ourselves can send you a hardware cable to read your ECU, email it to us, we tune it and return it to you.

It could just be a tune created by one single man who tunes cars in the local area just like 'miguex', he's based here in Calgary and I have had work done by him before. I trust him completely, so maybe just try researching it abit more! No doubt Evolve and ESS are great tuners but you never know

Yea I know i could override the tune with another known one, but that would cost me at least a grand. I was hoping someone would be able to tell me. Google came up with nothing neither eBay.

Wheres JJ saying anything here? And he and i are OE dealers to this day. Former? where do you get your info? I'm pretty sure i stated i work for OE in my first post and in PM to the OP. Then asked if he was local. The 135 Thread is a joke. His car went in for exhaust and Alex and arno "smashed his car and then repaired it". LOL come on! You know as well as i do when they offered him a free tune to try out he jumped on it. His car had limp mode issues but was taken care of. As far as the rest of that story. All BS. But hey its typed on a forum with no proof but some guy sitting at his computer bad mouthing a company he loved when he was getting stuff for a deal! I AND JJ ARE OE/GINTANI DEALERS!
p.s. Watch out for those camels, they spit |

I can't say about crashing his car because I wasn't there. But those things do happen. That's what business insurance is for. No reason to think Monster's car wasn't damaged and that he made the whole thing up. I do wonder if Monster's car was damaged before he purchased it. Cars damaged in shipping are routinely repaired and sold as new by BMW without any knowledge to the customer. It's very possible that's what happened here. Quote:

Dear OP,
Do some research on the forums on tunes and make a decision yourself before this thread becomes a perpetuation of the Tune Wars threads I've seen around here

His fender story is BS. Any problems with his tune was resolved. No reason why if damage was done to his car Alex wouldn't call him and take care of it. One thing to remember is everyone wants to think its always shady business on Gintani and over see Shady customers! You cant please everyone. Alex and Arno started this company and wouldn't jeopardize there investments for something that easy to resolve.

Regardless there sure is a lot of smoke around gintani and oe tuning.
Most of the time, where there is smoke there is fire. Ess and evolve don't have these issues, and neither does aa for the most part. Like it or not, gintani/oe has a lot of controversy associated with them.

Never heard of that company.
It can't be an "ebay chip", as the memory chips on these ECU's are not user replacable. It's either some "one-off" tune, or the car is really actually stock plus a sticker. Horsepower gains with that specific sticker are unknown
