No sound from rear subs (standard M audio system)

As the title states, my subs behind the seats are suddenly not working, but on visual inspection they don't appear to be blown. They didn't go out while listening to the stereo, I just noticed it sounding crappy this morning when I got in the car. All other speakers, low-mid-hi work fine.

Before I buy new rear woofers, can anyone tell me if:

1. it's normal for both rear subs to die at the same time

2. it's not possibly a bad amp or something else

3. if they are blown, does anyone have any replacement recommendations?

Thanks for any help. I'm not much of an audiophile, but I'm happy with the stock system when it's working.

EDIT: I don't know why/how I posed this in the Cosmetics section - can a mod move this to Nav/Audio please?

The chances of both drivers dying at once are slim to none. It is most likely an electronic issue, either the amp or a wiring issue. My money is on the amp.

And mine to the list. Out of warranty, and I rarely listen to the audio system anyway, so I'm probably not going to bother with it. If a cause or two are found I might take a look.

Turned out mine was caused by the car going into transport mode when the battery died. Cost $60 to reset the computer and now the sound is back!

Any chance you have a paired Bluetooth phone in the car at the time? Reviving or placing a call your not hearing? Tripping the Roadside assist, or SOS buttons?

Or maybe Nav volume turned all the way down... but a course set/giving directions?

Just thinking of the simple things first.
