Question regarding Driver's License transfer

I will be soon joining you guys as a California resident (in about 4 days). Here's my thread about it

http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=595312

Anyway, I was doing some research regarding my driver's license and transferring it to California. Based on http://dmv.ca.gov/dl/dl_info.htm, it appears that I do not have to take the driver's exam again. That's goood.

However, I could not find anything regarding my motorcycle endorsement. I've been riding since ~2003, but only recently completed the MSF course in NJ. I did it with a friend who had never ridden and I thought it would be a good idea. With the certificate, I was able to get a NJ Motorcycle endorsement on my license (after the written exam of course).

Does this automatically transfer to California? I hope so. Unfortunately, the motorcycle section in the link did not mention anything.

Thanks!

No, it does not transfer. You would have to take the written test to retain the motorcycle endorsement. You will also have to take a written test for the automobile license as well.

Ugh, both of them? So the bolded section in the OP means the actual driver's test (road course) is waived?

That's lame!

+1.
You need to take all written tests.
No driving test to show off your M.

They aren't too bad, I just went through this myself a few weeks ago heh.

Just make sure you check your ID before you leave to make sure they include the M! It's any easy thing for them to goof and forget (I had a different state's DMV do it, and then CA almost screwed it up as well...).

written test isn't hard.

download a copy of book here:
http://dmv.ca.gov/pubs/hdbk/driver_handbook_toc.htm

read once (or 1/3), go take the exam.

hardest part for me of all that was waiting in sh*tty CA DMV for an hour.
