G-power VS ESS Intercooler setup

so you see from where the blower is the g-power routes the air from the blower to the Intercooler then to the intake manifold. from what i can see the ESS goes straight from the blower to the intake manifold. where is the ic in the ess kit?

the ess kit uses a water based heat exchanger and cools charge @ the intake mani..... its definatly a cool setup..... much shorter boost pipework also, their are dissadvantages for this setup and air to air setup also..... their is no wrong or right way just difference approaches, my VT2 z4m runs a proper intercooler and im very pleased with that setup...... ESS's approach on the e92 for me is the better approach, the g-power setup requires you to cut the front cross member which is imo unacceptable..... The ess tuning is imo simply as good as it gets, perfect driveability, perfect AFRs, perfect idle...... The early g-power tunes were crap.... The new tunes are very good, they use the ASA blower which is imo probably one of the best blowers out their, i love the TQ they offer, that said the vortech V3si is a unit capable of 700+bhp without mods to it.........

Our E9X supercharger kit uses an air to water cooling system. There are two heat exchangers in the system. One is in the manifold and the second is behind the front bumper. We prefer this design for this specific application. It has proven to be very reliable, easy to install and has been very efficient in lowering intake air temps.

@beedub, yeah im definitely getting an ESS supercharger but this time around im gonna focus on handling first before i put power in... did it the other way round on my m3 before and oh boy that car was a handfull (hpf stg 3)

The difference is that gpower, like AA, use an air to air cooler. The compressed air itself is being cooled. Looking at the photos, ESS uses a water-air cooler, meaning that the manifold "environment" is cooled. This means boosted air has less distance to travel, and thus less plumbing. Both systems are great in their own ways

The air itself is also being cooled in the ESS kit, the real difference is the heat exchanger is in the manifold and it uses liquid to cool the air instead of ambient air cooling the air. Liquid to air charge coolers as a rule can be much smaller and compact since the heat transfer from air to liquid is more efficient than air to air. No one way is better per say however liquid to air charge cooling is becoming more popular these days due to packaging issues under the hood.

The BMW N63 V8TT (550, 750, X5, X6), S63 V8TT (X5M, X6M, M5), and N74 V12TT (760) all use liquid to air charge cooling.
