BMW M3 carbon fiber mirror cap

I just received my BMW carbon fiber mirror caps from Steve Thomas BMW, got a good deal too! (thank you GOLFFRR!).

In the box I also found the included weather foam strips, where do I apply them? I didn't receive any instruction with my caps....so here I am asking.

cheers!

Fast forward to 2:04 for the mirror cap installation. I used this video when I installed mine. Came out great.

Yes, an easy DIY! Was curious about the weather foam strips you mentioned. I installed the OEM caps w/ the M5 paint scheme from IND and mine did not come with any sort of weather strips. In fact, the factory installed OEM caps did not have the weather strips either. Wonder if that's something exclusive to the carbon fiber caps?

The carbon cover came with two types of weather stripping, a long grey one, and shorter black/denser one. I just installed the grey one around the outer edge, and the black one on the inner vertical side.

I think the weather stripping is provided for an overall better fit since the carbon cover is thinner than the OE cover.

Ah, that explains things! I've never physically seen the carbon fiber caps. Thanks for the quick response!
