Based on the price I'm pretty sure the sound absorbing chambers are stuffed with $100 bills.

Nobody is rushing to cut open a $4k exhaust? What a surprise.

Welding inconel alloys is difficult due to cracking and microstructural segregation of alloying elements in the heat affected zone. However, several alloys have been designed to overcome these problems. The most common welding methods are gas tungsten arc welding and electron beam welding.[ |

My guess is that it's packed with diamonds. Really, I wouldn't be surprised if the inner's are about the same as the standard exhaust. No doubt the Inconel is huge in the sound equation.

Have you cut open your exhaust to figure out how the valves work?

Perhaps some of the competing exhaust manufacturers should. Loud performance sound without any drone. Just a can opener to get to the magic sauce. Wonder if it will self destruct upon exposure

It's straight-through with a couple pipes coming off the straight-through pipe to provide resonance control. You can see right through to the tips from the inlets, it's a straight run of pipe.
Welding inconel isn't impossible with a tig but most shops aren't going to have the right material laying around and it's very thin metal probably not even 16 gauge from how it feels. I wouldn't do it without a get out of jail free signature from the owner

I am wondering how much of making it inconel was to keep people from cutting it open since it is much harder to weld properly? Nice cover to say its for lightweight but fact is titanium would have been lighter and cheaper but much easier to cut and weld.
So it is straight through? Basically a flowmaster glasspack is straight through so 4k for a piece of straight pipe is pretty ridiculous |

BMW puts their exhausts in a sound studio and tweaks them before they release them to the public so they will know precisely what they sound like. I mean you can dismiss this as overengineering, or acknowledge that it makes a difference. If you chose the former, then this exhaust is probably not for you. I don't know many shops that are eager to weld titanium either. |

They put all their cars in a sound studio - there was a documentary on a network just recently. Was more of an infomercial, but was still interesting. Can probably find some more info with a search for documentary or tv or something along those lines. Was a general documentary on BMW. I know they do this with the factory exhaust, but would be extremely surprised if they didn't do it with the 4k inconel one as well.
