Insurance -- Wawanesa vs. Liberty Mutual
I'm new to the LA area (moved from the East Coast) and looking for insurance on my e92.
Currently, the two best quotes I have received are with Liberty Mutual and Wawanesa. Wawa is actually a couple hundred cheaper than Liberty, and so based purely on price, it seems to be the obvious choice. However, I had never even heard of them prior to seeing a thread posted here on this forum. Is there any reason I should be considering one over the other? I suppose the big areas of concern that are not addressed by a simple quote are: 1. Repair with OEM parts? 2. Coverage for track days? (non-timed, not racing) 3. Rate hikes after traffic violations? (I currently have a clean record) Any input would be appreciated, thank you. |

Most policies read something along the lines of: "..repair or replace the property or parts with other of like kind and quality..". Much of that decision is not made or mandated by the actual insurance company. In your case, with any carrier you should expect and receive OEM parts, regardless, you are ALWAYS entitled to them (if available) - but at an additional cost.
I am not familiar with Wawanesa or their Auto policy but most company's specifically exclude property damage and liability claims on a track. Ask them for a copy of the policy jacket and READ IT! - don't assume it's a "yes" because that's what they told you. A lot of Agent's and/or their staff don't have a flippin' clue about their actual policies and will tell you anything so you'll take out the policy.
