Fender Bender :(

Well it happened. Mid intersection, someone turned left and I guess didn't see that I was there (How, I don't know). 5MPH collision or so left his Civic untouched but caused some damage to my M Roadster. I'm pretty upset and saddened. Was wondering what you think the repair estimate might be. Looks like I'll need a new bumper and headlight washer cap and some resetting of the front-left headlight assembly. The impact caused the computer to throw a code about the lights, even though they all work, and now I have a "fast-blink" when I try to use the left turn signal.

Sigh. Opinions appreciated...

That sucks. Sorry to read that. A fast blinking turn signal means alive wire exposed somewhere. My e36 did that, fixed by soldiering the wire up. Will their insurance cover it? Sounds like not your fault.

This looks like one of those accidents that will cost much more than the average person would suspect. New bumper, new bumper cover, electrical work, new washer unit, prep, sanding, painting, blending..... I'm betting $2,000 - $2,500.

Sorry to hear about this, sucks.

^ I agree; looks relatively minor but it will add up.

Good thing is that the person hit you. His insurance should cover it.

Please let us know the final tally. I would estimate $1000-1500. The bumper cover lists for $500($400 from Tischer) and is likely the most costly of what needs replacing...

the fast blinking means you have a broken light somewhere. You may think you have all your lights working...but you do and that's why you have the light symbol show up in your dash. I had my brake light go out and it always blinked faster than normal until they replaced the bulb.

I had similar damage when someone backed into my car in a parking lot. My turn indicator went into ricer mode too, but I had cracks on the shiny part inside the headlight, that was a grand on it's own to replace. Bumper just had to be repainted, but I used it as an opportunity to get the Aero bumper. There insurance covered the light, paint and labor.

Thanks for the replies all... unfortunately you were all right in that it will add up. Looks like the headlight assembly will have to be replaced, which, as was said is over a grand on its own. New bumper, prep, paint, install. All in $3K.

Now for the insurance dispute to resolve...

I'm thankful that you guys kinda prepared me for the number I was going to receive, so I walked in there with butt cheeks clenched.
