Brakes Being Eaten Alive

Got a question I just changed the brakes on my z4 in the rear about a month ago, and man they are yelling..I haven't changed the rotors but I just ordered a pair from BAVAUTo along with a new set of front brakes...I refuse to change the rears after just changing them I know I need some fronts..anyone else having a problem going thru breaks like a hot knife thru butter...and what is the recommmended change time on rotors..BMW Japan is just crazy on prices when it comes to parts..a refuse to buy from them so I have to order from the U.S. A set of front brakes in Japan will set you back 225 bucks... I just placed an order for rear rotors and brake pads and it was less than that...

I was stationed at Kadena before and had the "GI Issue" R33. You're seeing more/faster corrosion due to higher amounts of salt and stuff in the air from being on the island. I know in a 2 1/2 yr tour I went through 2 sets of rotors and pads. Along the same lines, make sure your paint isn't being affected.

When you say yelling, do you mean they are just squealing a bunch? Did you bed in the new pads?

What pads are you using? Higher performance pads will not only be noisier, but degrade your rotors pretty quickly.

As stupid as it sounds, a few friends of mine (a few locals as well) used WD40. I DO NOT RECCOMEND THIS, since it doesn't logically make sense to me, but they never complained of stop loss, if you will. It still boggled my mind that they used that.

Anyway. IDK if there's a product out there that would be some sort of protective coating without interefering with braking performance.

So are your brakes making too much noise or did the rotors or pads lose so much thickness that they need replacement? Because those can be 2 very different things

so you only did the pads on the rears, and they started making noise?

or

you changed the pads AND rotors recently, and now you can tell that they need replacing because the rotors have a noticeable lip carved around the edge or you've physically measured them and see that they're below spec?

I really think you just have noisy pads back there, I really can't see how rotors could degrade over a month, no matter what the climate

If you are going through pads and rotors in an month and you are not racing the car I'd bet the problem lies in the calipers. They are probably not releasing fully after pressure is taken off the pedal and are constantly rubbing.
