New Ride!! My first BMW!!
HI
Hey all. Im new to the forum and new to the world of BMW. Ive been in the auto business most of my life and have sold Audi/Porsche most of it. Ive had a few Porsches and a couple Audi's but this is my first BMW. Its a 2003 Z4 with sport package, xenon's, leather, power top, etc. Only 30k miles!! Id like to know everyones opinions on aftermarket gear for it, where to buy OEM parts, advice in general. Really lovin' it so far and hope to love it for a few more years Rob |

Hi
Strictly a fair weather pleasure car. I do like to do some subtle things to my cars, though. Maybe some wheels eventually, etc. I debadged it earlier today. Always fun to do things here and there to make it unique without making it look non factory. Rob |

good resource to look up parts getbmwparts.com bmwpartzdirect.com both good for oem parts & accessories although i find partzdirect to have better shipping rates for aftermarket sites, obviously alot of places out there but i find bimmerworld and turner to have great selection with good pricing. rogue engineering is another great site, their owner ben also has the same z4 as you and did an e38 m5 engine swap! |

Hi
Thanks for all the replies. My shift knob is worn and Id like to replace it. I have a tan leather interior. What would everyone recommend? Do these knobs just pull off or do they unscrew? Rob |

The knob is easy to replace. The ZHP knob gets accolades on the forums: Look near the bottom of the page - nice discount too. http://www.trademotion.com/partlocat...egoryID=123043 Several here too: http://www.leatherz.com/Merchant5/me...=Z4_Shift_Knob |

Congrats...highly recco joining the BMW Car Club if you have not. Great discount using card at just about every dealership on parts. The ROUNDEL magazine is worth the cost...and a nice healthy rebate check if you ever buy a new Bimmer--after one year membership...

... and the shifter knob pulls off, it's not screwed on. I just replace mine with the ZHP shifter, quite happy with it. They are a tight fit - give the old one a good yank straight up, and be careful not to bash yourself in the face ...

HI
OMG, Lisa. Same car! Very cool. I ended up getting a new shift knob, clear 3rd brake lens, and clear fender circles from LeatherZ. I also did a new set of mats. I have an air intake boot on the way. Mine has a split in it. Other than that, maybe some 18"s in the spring. Lovin the car. Gonna go top down till the snow flies then put her away for a few months. I appreciate all the replies Rob |
