Seatbelt warning sound - can one switch it off

Is it possible to switch off the seatbelt warning sound? (the beeping the car makes when you start her up without first belting up)

BTW: I ALWAYS use a seatbelt ... but when I get into a car, I first put the key into the ignition (frees up my hands) and start her up, then belt up, then move out of parking. Just what I prefer ... without being beeped at. Anyway, it should only beep at you if you move out of parking and are not belted.

Might be nice, but the national standards want you belted when the key is engaged, running or not. You will be too pre-occupied in pulling away from a spot, moving into traffic, just moving, to be able to click IN as you pull it into Drive mode. It is felt that at DRIVE engagement, your safety issues should be taken care of, to concentrate on what is happening up front.

krusty I too want this off. When I get home in my small development I like to take her off and the beeping is so annoying.

I know there is a software code for this but requires special software from bmw.

Yes, wouldn't it be nice if we could retro-fit our cars with the new sound? I HATE that annoying sound we have.
