Stormtrooper White Wrap
I'm thinking about doing a vinyl wrap on my Z4M Coupe. It'll protect the paint for a few years. Any idea how much these cost? The company hasn't emailed me back yet.
I'm thinking about doing Stormtrooper White. I think it'll go well with my gunmetal wheels and APR splitter. Matte Black seems a bit overdone. Plus, my car is already black, so I figure if I'm going to spend money to change my car's color for a few years, a more drastic change is preferable. Here are some examples of the black wrap: It almost has a brownish tint to it... There's also "carbon" wrap, but it's cheesy, IMO. Here's the company I might have do it: http://www.skinzwraps.com/indexhome.html Thoughts? Has anyone done one of these? Last edited by AnalogDan; 07-24-2011 at 12:19 AM.. |

My guess would be like 2 or 3 grand at the least. The white looks really good... the others, not so much.

I think black is played out. White is hard to notice. I'd go for something... different
I think it'll cost as much as $4k

a place close to me that did my roof quoted me at about 2200 for a full wrap last year
they say it all depends on the size of the car, and well ours aren't that big

I've seen them as cheap as 2400 and as expensive as 4000. The difference between the 2 was night and day in terms of visbale seals, etc.

You are definitely going to be paying more for the quality of the workmanship versus the cost of the wrap. It would be a good idea to check out other cars they have done before to check it out. |

That price sounds like a great bargain. That being said I looked at a few of their time lapse videos and they look to do a "standard job". Some of the better wraps I have seen have included taking the bumpers off, lights out, etc to make sure proper coverage was achieved. Depending on how picky you are, the base color and transformation color, you may or may not want a more detailed wrap.

I got quotes from two places here in DFW.
One quoted me $2500 (which they claim is a "sale" price), the other quoted me $3000. |

A proper paint job ? 4-8K on a car with limited body work needed. Also keep in mind Matte is much more difficult to paint, if any contamination gets in the paint or a problem area arises on a panel that entire panel must be re-sprayed. Unlike a conventional paint job, you can't wetsand and buff, doing so obviously takes a matte surface and gives it more shine.
Matte wraps also have their own problems, Matte wrapping is normally just a standard gloss finish, with a matte laminate. Over time these layers can separate or the top layer can dis-color (the first GT3RS posted is not a white, somewhat yellow in areas GT3 after less than 2 years in the elements.

White looks good. Matte black looks like primer. Blah.
