Should I trade for a 1m?

Looking for advice. I currently live in NYC and don't even need a car; however, being from SoCal I love cars and now I own two: a JCW convertible and a 135 convertible with sport package. I love both my cars for different reasons:the jcw is raw, small, and a blast to drive, the 135 is posh, fast, and makes for a great long trip car. Anyway I've been interested in the 1m since it's conception and although I thought my next car would be an M3 sedan in it's next incarnation (say a couple years from now) I'm now thinking I should just go for the 1M instead.
My question is should I go for the 1M? And, if I do, what car should I trade in? Thanks for your advice.

I think you would probably want to track one down first that is available. There was one at habberstad but they want $17k over msrp I believe.

The 1M is a great car. It's going to be a whole different driving experience in comparison to your vert's. I would say go for one if you can get one and trade in the 135 because the 135 is much more similar to the 1M and you probably would want a difference in your cars.

If all fails, you can always get the M3 later on.

That's MHO.

Only you can answer this question. The 1M is targeted towards a specific audience and those of us getting it knew right away we had to have it! If you don't know whether you should get one or not, then you probably shouldn't.

If you do decide to go for it, I would say get rid of the 135i vert...otherwise you may end up with two similar (to an extent) cars.

Trade the 135 for a new M5, in black. You're in NY and that's mandatory.

Thanks for the advice. I should add that I don't want to get anyone in trouble, but I will say that I don't think getting a 1m at msrp will a problem for me.

why the heck would you need TWO convertibles? or for that matter Two pickup trucks? I agree with the others.. if you want a 1M.. then I would lean towards selling the 135... but in reality, a 1M is not going to be a better car than the 135 for long trips..

I too have a dilemma, currently have a 2007, 911 Carrera S and a 2009, BMW X5. I have to get rid of one of them but love the Porsche and can't bear to get rid of it for the money I have been offered and the X5 is such practical car for family duties. I'm thinking I will trade the X5 and if the 1M turns out to be as good as I'm hoping, I wont feel so bad about parting with the Porsche and buying another X5 to use as a family car, what do you think?

Why not just sell the 911 and not potentially go through the depreciation on buying another X5? The X5 is too practical to sell in my opinion.. plus it's newer. if you get a 1M and hate it.. .. you can sell it in a new york minute probably any time over the next 6-9 months.... and it shouldnt be a problem at all to pick up another 911.... maybe even a better 911...

you do know that you are going to have to re-learn how to drive again, coming out of the 911 right?

EDIT..

now I see why on trading in a used 911... yes... one generally does take a beating..

I also own an Evo9 which also completely different to drive than anything else so this will mean 3 different driving styles

Considering what the car is like someone is getting an almost showroom condition Porsche for 1/2 price

I have yet to read all the posts, but if you decide to do

since you like the JCW for its rawness trade that in.... BUT then you're left with two 1-series.
So I'd say trade in the 135 for a 1M
Or grab the M3 ... if it were up to me. Trade the mini. Not really a fan of the convertible even though I've never driven one.

BUT if you do decide to do the 1M make sure to make sure if you can get one! and quick!

I had a 135 convertible as a courtesy car for a little bit. That was a pretty fun little car. Looked good too, white with black top and gloss black rims, little carbon fiber rear wing and sports exhaust! hahaha A little depressed when it had to go haha didn't know they had courtesy cars like that. lucky you
