Do they stop producing/selling e82 parts, namely BMWP parts?
Hey guys,
It just occurred to me today that since I will continue to mod the 1er in the future, say if I decided to purchase a set of BMWP side skirts next year, would these still be in production and obtainable through dealers/online retailers? Does BMW ever stop producing such parts? Just asking since the new 1er will be out soon, would this mean e82 bmw performance parts will be phased out of production? Hope you guys can give me some insight |

Under US law an auto manufacturer needs to make all OEM parts for the fleet for 10 years after production on the model stops.
I would have to assume that that included BMW perfect parts aswell |

I think over here in Germany it is the same. An auto manufacture must pprovide (make and keep on hand) all parts for a car model for the first ten years. After that, they can do what they want. I also think there is some law or practise which the car makers do not let anyone else make replacement parts for their cars for the first five years. After five eyars then you start to see more and more reproduction parts being made for a car model.
I don't know about BMW Performance parts though. It would be interesting for Dan at United to chime in. |
