Performance Steering Wheel impressions?

Hey all, was considering acquiring the performance steering wheel with the shift indication, I just wanted to get feedback from people who have used/ own this...

Is it worth it? Everything you imagined to be? Did it do wonders for the overall experience when driving? I really want this but wanted to make sure it was really worth it... Any feedback is much appreciated, thank in advance guys!

Well, after getting off of the phone with my local dealer, I have been informed that the wheel has been discontinued. So, unless a dealer or shop already has possession, there is no way to order one... Maybe I have just been saved from regretting something later on lol To be honest I was already torn about having a white stitched wheel in an orange stitched vehicle...

my dealer parts guy said the US release date for the new wheel is 8/1/11... at least that is what their computer was telling them a few weeks ago.

GREAT ... now we are callings parts of our cars "FLUFFY" what next !!

and for the record, the wheel only comes fluffy with or without electronics.

BTW fluffy = Alcantra = expensive suede

I can't seem to find a price, although I have a feeling it's going to be ridiculous $$$. Alcantara is great stuff and since it's already used in the 1M the wheel will fit in nicely. It does tend to wear in where your hands are gripping a lot but I think they make some maintenance kits to keep it in better condition.

I clicked through to the BMW USA site from the provided link and found a price of $829 for the old wheel...
http://www.shopbmwusa.com/ProductLis...=145&perf=true
which actually doesn't seem too crazy.. the new one shows at $1300 from the pic and link in post #3

lol I interperted his question as being with or without the electronics, not being literally fluffy hahaha

I know fluffy is expensive

but if it's a daily driver... wouldn't the fluffiness wear out faster? Plus hand swear etc etc... ewww

A bald steering wheel would look funny

This is true,, I would suspect a daily driver with, lets say a 30 mile commute every day, plus agressive handeling track days would matt down the fluffy-ness of the covering... i would even guess it gets worn glossy shinny.

BUT it does Feeeeeelllllll so nice in your hand.... ( no jokes guys !!!!)
