Parking ettiquete

Just wondering how you do it in your neck of the woods.

I am the guy who parks his car/truck/bike out in Timbuktu away from all the minivans and soccer moms with grubby little handed kids. Seems like whenever I come out I have someone parked beside me, now if its a nice car I realize that they are probably in the same boat as me in regards to care of their pride and joy so this usually doesn't bother me as I will do it to other people. Actually they have taken away 50% of my concern about anyone parking next to me and we have benefited each other so to speak whenever possible I will park in a spot with a curb next to me and I will get as close as possible to the curb to give a wider girth for someone else s door. When it is a wreck parked next to me I realize that the owner is probably a dick, but I have yet to have anyone ding me with a wreck. Now when it turns out to be an "average" car or a minivan is when I get nervous, again I have yet to be dinged but for the life of me why are you so oblivious to the fact that I am trying to avoid you and any confrontation that WILL occur if you door ding me? Are your children so fat that they need to walk farther to the store? If so good for you in making them walk, now try a diet.

Also when I am forced to park with someone next to me I will write down or snap a pic of the situation with a license plate showing. I am just being an ass that should drive junk or do I just expect too much of society?

I normally park a good ways away, but the one thing I will never do is double park. I usually try to park next to a curb so that I have the potential of only one car next to me.

People suck. Doesn't matter where you park.

I do everything you do, except with the pictures. But I memorize license plates, cringe when a minivan full of 8 kids (geeze, why do so many people have like 8 kids? the world is overpopulated as it is, stop fucking) parks next to me, try to park away from everyone, curse silently when I walk out to my car and see that out of all the hundreds of empty spaces, some rusted POS has chosen to park right next to me on the other end of the lot.

I've been parked and had to tell inattentive mothers to watch their children around my car because the kids have been touching and sitting on it, and I've gotten attitude for it. I'm sorry if I take at least a couple hours every week to try and make my car look nice (rain or shine, freezing or sweltering) and I don't want your obese little piglet who is dripping KFC gravy ruining my hard work (yes, I have had a kid with gravy on his shirt and hands touch my car).

I sense that both of us have some kind of pent-up anger about this. Maybe I'm just crazy haha. FWIW I've only been dinged once in three years of ownership..

When parking in a lot I try to park with a curb on the right side with the hope that the guy who parks on my left will not have a passenger and/or will park in the same direction. Also, I try not to park at the bottom of a grade in a lot as those shopping carts are affected by gravity too unless I can use one of the parking lot islands as a blocker.

^ Not crazy. I'm usually a calm person but when idiots are around my car it brings out my inner fury..

I ALWAYS park far away, by myself etc.. the only 2 marks on my car have to be from people walking by and hitting it with there purse or some shit.. Just thinking about it makes me rage because I could never imagine myself being so careless around someone elses car..

What irks me to no end is my assigned garage spot at work. While I am happy to have a garage spot and have had some super people parking next to me, I currently have a "line hugger" on each side. I just don't get how someone can nearly park their car on the line and walk away. Geeze park in the middle of the space please. If both have parked nearly on the line I can barely get my door open. This causes me unnecessary anxiety (stupid I know but just venting to people who might understand)

This was my WTF moment the other day. I went to Sears to get a water filter for my fridge. The power was out so they turned me away at the door. It was a completely empty parking lot for that reason.

I walk back out the door and this is what I see. People are unreal.

I avoid coupes like the plague. Long doors = my car getting hit.

Theres a reason that my car still looks new after 60K miles

A nice, non property destroying FU to parking assholes

Rub the buttered side of a buttered roll on their windshield.

That stuff never comes out

Just took a picture outside of my window. I purposely park there because for some reason they didn't make it another handi-capped spot. So it is just by itself.

NO ONE parks at the hand-capped spot. This is great for two reasons, the one mentioned above and the fact I can see it from my window.

Can you spot the 1er?

and maybe some orange parking cones!

I am the same way guys. I hate it when someone parks next to my car. I am always parking way out in Timbucktoo so I don't get any dings or dents. Come to think of it... maybe it IS time to start carrying orange cones! lol

This is the best parkingspot that I've ever found

My friends and I call it the god spot. It's a spot that's completely alone in an ihop parking lot...it's also the farthest spot away from the ihop

Love the god spot

Happens to me often... Its pretty obvious if u look in a parking lot and see a BMW away from other cars, u know his intention... yet somehow someone decides to go right next to u when there are plenty of other spots... sure it pisses u off but all u can do is do it again... Sometimes i would love to just sit there and wait for the person to come back to the car and tear them a new assh*le... but oh well just pray nothing ever happens and drive off... very little is in our control... On day parked at hyvee... i come out to see a shopping cart touching my car all alone in the corner... i seriously doubt a hill or gravity sent it there on its own, but whatever no damage......

ALTHOUGH... i absolutely love it when a random bimmer parks next to me... idk y just makes me feel good

My beautiful black one got mauled by an idiot the other day. Up until then I babied the car. Now there's a dent in the passenger door.
So live and learn, also I parked the hell away from any other cars in the lot.
I can not console you that it wont happen, only to accept it. Just enjoy the car!

I park wherever. I don't sweat stuff like this.

Although as a previous Thinderbird owner, I make sure to give space for coupes with full window frames (can't roll down the windows to sneak in) Luckely there aren't many of those around anymore.

I'm trying to get my assigned garage space changed so I park next to a white 135i! That spot might come open in August! No more line huggers and next to a 135 would be awesome. I've already talked with the owner of that car!
