New to the forums. Hi!

Hello all,

I have been adamantly reading these forums for the past month and finally decided to join and say hi.

It's a pretty long wait for my car. I just ordered a 2012 128i M-sport with premium package, heated seats, xenon headlights, and comfort access. The color tentatively is Titanium Silver with Coral Red interior and the M-Sport silver trim. I am still debating on Space Grey. I am doing an ED on September 12.

Reading these forums has gotten me very excited about going over to Europe and picking the car up. I lived in Germany for 7 years but never had a car like a BMW to drive over there.

Unfortunately, I am going with a Steptronic transmission since I haven't driven a manual in a long time and, correct me if I am wrong, resale is easier on an automatic when the time comes.

This car is going to be my only car. Finally upgrading my Prius. It was my first car and did well for me throughout college. Since I am out now and have a good job I figured an upgrade was a necessity.

I hope to become a more informed and avid poster on the forums!

Also, how many more 1 Series owners are up my way? (Syracuse, Watertown, Northern/Central NY)

-Andy

Welcome aboard...also have a AW 128i with M Sport...terra cotta inside and the whole package is great. Its quick enough to get you into trouble...spacious enough to bring back just about anything you need from Home Depot except a pingpong table, and you will not see yourself coming and going on the road. It WILL spoil you tho... just be forwarned. Welcome!!

Haha trust me I am aware! My father fist got an X5 3.0i back in 2004 and since then my whole family has been hooked on performance cars. Since then we have added an RS60 Spider Boxster S Porsche and now my 128i. The Porsche Sedan is on the way too.

I am very much looking forward to getting it. I feel as though once I own a BMW for myself I will have an impossible time going back to another company.

I would highly recommend learning how to drive a manual. Your driving experience will be greatly amplified if you took the time to learn it as the auto tranny in the 128i is not as responsive as the 135i. Other than that, welcome aboard!

Okay so updated. I decided to completely change my car after looking at finances. I got my production number and pick up date of October 12th

135i
M-Sport
6 speed
Space Grey w/ Coral Red
Premium package
Heated Seats
Navi
BMW apps
HK Sound

I can't wait for my pick up. It's going to be a killer wait until it finally come to the US. I am just thankful I have to travel extensively for my job right after I get bak from doing ED so the time should hopefully fly by.

Good choice going with the manual (and the 135i). I honestly think manual is the better resale value in the 1-series, but more importantly, it's a much greater driving experience for this car.

Plus the 6MT in this car is so easy to drive, you can practically let the clutch out at idle without stalling.

Thank you all for the warm welcome

Yeah at the end of the day I was pretty much getting a full optioned 128i, looked at the price, and realized that all the money I was paying in addons would be soaked up by the base price on the 135i. I think it was only about 3k more...then add the nav.

After reading the forums so much I decided that I don't really care about resale of auto vs. Manual because in reality I doubt I will be selling this car anytime soon. Probably I will hold on to it for 6 or more years.

Heh... if you're still in Munich on the 14th we should have a beer. I'll be returning to Munich after driving my 135i (DCT though) around Bavaria for a week and spending that night in Munich before heading home on the 15th.

I SOOO would've gone manual... but a soccer injury in my teens (on the downward slope toward 40 now) has meant my left leg is problematic at the best of times these days. I just sold my last manual car (a 545i) for that reason. I drove a 135i manual before I started having problems and it is a wonderful car to drive with a stick. Highly recommend a short-shift kit though.

My car I think I've decided now will be Deep Sea Blue over Terracotta.

Are you planning to do PCD as well?

Unfortunately I will be in Glanbrücken near Kaiserslautern. I am taking the time for the ED to visit where I used to live and see some old faces.

I would have liked to do the PCD as well, but I have no time to do it and will be in Singapore, Malaysia, and Thailand for work when it's delivered. I am planning in going to the Driving school next summer and take my first road trip with the 135i.

Heh... we might still be able to; I'll be in Kaiserslautern as well visiting my girlfriend's older brother. In truth though, probably mid week that week... so instead I'll hang out the sunroof and wave as we pass on the Autobahn

Sounds good I will look out for you! Don't know how many one series there are in Germany but probably quite a few.
