135i yes or no?
Hello everyone, this is my first post. I am in business that gives free black bmws once you reach a certain lvl. Anyways im looking at a 135i 2011 w/ 10k miles. However im concerned about the space. i currently drive a 08 infiniti g35x, my last few cars. 04 g35 coupe, nissan 300zx. I am used to small cars, but wondering if anyone can compare with any of these? the dealer doesn't have the car in stock it has to be shipped (car-max) i don't want to have a car shipped and it end up to small. im 5-10 and 288 lbs. not sure if this helps, but i am comfortable in a 3 series. Thanks for your help

My thoughts-
first off, the car really isn't that small. The front seat area is quite spacious, and the back isn't too bad as long as there isn't 6'+ people sitting back there. The trunck space is great, especially with seats folded down. The only thing that might be an issue due to your size, would be the sport seats. I personally would not buy the car without them, but if I were bigger (I'm 6' and 210lbs), they would be a bit snug. Some people like the snug fit, but it would bother me. The non-sport seats do not have the larger side bolsters and are more flat. If there is a local BMW dealership, go check out a sport and non sport car and take them for a lenghty test drive to decide which seat is more comfortable to you. Other than that, I'd say go for it!

The 1 will be a great car for you. Before buying, I test drove a 128 with sport seats and found them a bit too restrictive for anything more than a 15 minute drive. I am 5-10, 265 lbs. So, I ordered my 135 without the sport seats and find that I am completely comfortable.
Also, there is plenty of room in this car otherwise. I have driven smaller cars all my life and love my 135!!

I had a 2004 G35 coupe as well and the sloping roof line made the back seat very tight for an adult of even average height. In fact, you would be pressing your head on the back window almost the entire time. The 135 has a more conventional roof line in the back which makes the back seats perfectly usable so in that respect the 135 is actually a larger vehicle. The trunk is also a bit larger in the 135. The quality of the interior is also light years better and the power is not even worth comparing.

I went from a 06 BMW 330i sedan to a 11 135i sport with DCT, the front area is as spacious than the 3 series and the rear sits two people comfortable, the trunk is even better then my old 3 series as the seats fold down and thats an option for the 3. I would say go for it you will not regret it.

do it, you will be happy you did. no matter how many times i drove the g35 or g37, there was always something missing. can't put a finger on what it is, but something makes the car feel numb to me.

Do it. But this talk about the back seat being comfortable is hilarious. Unless you're a freakin' midget, there's no room for anyone other than a 8 year old in the back seat.
That said, do it. |

At 5'10" and 288 lbs, I think you HAVE TO check out the seats before committing to the car. My wife and I love the car and the all around size. I love the sport seats at 6'1" and 180 lbs, so not really a valuable review.

I'm taller and wider than you and I have the sport seats. They fit me fine. I have to set the side bolsters to their widest default setting to be comfortable, but over all they are quite nice, and I don't feel stuffed into them. It would be a bit more comfortable if I had 1/2" more on each side, but as they are it's comfy. I can do a 3hr drive no problem. Waste and thigh area is very comfortable But, people are built different. You should find a 1 with sport seats, maybe find a for sale 1 in your area and go for a test drive to see if they are for you. Remember to adjust the side bolsters. The control is on the same side as the seat adjusters. It's toward the front left corner. It's a simple rocker switch, one direction pumps up the bolsters the other direction deflates. As to your question, YES, get one, you'll love it. Plenty of room up front even for 2 big guys. It's amazing how much room German engineers can build into these "smallish" cars. Compared to a 3 series, I'm just as comfortable and I didn't feel like the 3 had any more room up front. By the spec's I think the 1 is equal if not a touch wider, at least at the point that they/BMW measure. |

You can also check sport bs non sport seats on a 3er. The leather is different but the seat frame is identical
