Hi I just installed my jb4 over the weekend, and currently using map5 w/ 93 octane. I have no other mods. should I continue or use map 5 or use map 1?

I have DCI and 93 octane I always have it on map 1 and switch to map 2 occasionally to have some fun as you can really feel the power difference.

I have never tried map 5. With just the jb4 I only had it on map 1, but I switched to map 2 after I installed my downpipes. I'll probably leave it on that even after I add my fmic. Oh yeah and I use 93 octane.

I usually use Map 5. Since it automatically adjusts, it's probably the best to use..
When I first started I'd be on map 1. I asked Mike@N54 Tuning if he thought map 2 was alright without DP's if you have a catback exhaust and run 93 octane, and he said as long as youre running 93 and have at least a catback system with the stock DP's, it should be fine once in a while. Don't try with 91 though! Map 2 is a bit more aggressive than the max limit it's giving me on Map 5, so I try not to use it too often until I'm out of warranty and I get DP's..

Map 5 is great and seems to adapt well. I tried some E85 with the 93 (1:3 mix) and I hit 15 psi in 3rd gear.

The catback provides more flow and lowers the back-pressure (as do the DP's, but to a greater effect), which frees up more power. However, the intake could be having a similar effect, allowing the turbos to suck up more air more easily, lessening the workload of the turbos, and increasing your power (especially with a tune). This probably also contributes to more safely running at higher psi. At least that's what I'm thinking..

Yeah i dont think he'd tell me that its safe when its not...it most likely is an octane issue because you need higher octane for more boost...i switch to map 2 occasionally(like last night with a camaro ss) and the car runs amazing.

haha, I love that almost no-one(atleast where I live) knows what these are/what they can do. I've hurt the feelings of many turbo b series/camaros/mustangs in a nearly bone stock car. Can't wait till I get a flash and a fbo setup

Thats the one thing I really do like about this car. It really does not scream attention as my Evo did and I'm really thankful for that. Its nice to go out and not have everything try to race you.

so far map 1 and auto tune have felt similar to me, so i'm just going to wait until next week when i get my intercooler and downpipes put on to really experiment with the 3 maps.
I ran map 7 on my old 135 with JB3 a couple of times to see what was what, and it was a nutty map. I thoroughly enjoyed playing with in once in a while. So i can't wait for some supporting mods to see how it goes. |

Map 5 is also on the conservative side in earlier updates. The more updated you stay, the more aggressive (within safe bounds) it gets. Also, it probably takes a bit of driving, plus at least a few pulls at wide open throttle on map 5 to get the chip to fully gauge what's going on in your engine and adjust accordingly
