Pulled over \"95/60\"

Last night I did a drive out to Wisemans. Just after leaving home a car came screaming up behind me and tailgated me and had his front fogs on. I was doing just under 70 (60 zone). He continued to tailgate me so I slowed to 60.

I turned left at a set of lights and noticed it was a copper. He came along my right side and flashed his side spotlight. I slowed down and he signalled to stop. We're now blocking both lanes!

He said "Mate keep an eye on your speed."

Me: "really? What was I doing?"

Him: "I was sitting on the side of the road and detected you doing 95. Just be careful"

Me: "ok, thank you. I didn't realise I was speeding."

With that, he did a u-turn and left.

No way was I doing 95! He probably didn't even capture my speed, but anyway.

The whole copper mentality: "I'll tailgate him with my foggies on so he will speed" pisses me off.

But, he didn't fine me for the 10 or so that I was probably over. Props for that.

By the way it was a Flemington LAC HWP car. Alpha unit, so he most probably did have his radar on.

You should have jumped on the anchors and made him hit you, always the person who hits from behinds fault..... that would teach them!!!

I was considering it! But I was in a calm mood last night, thought I'd just sit on 60 and let him eat it or overtake.

Then I saw it was a cop!

Should have put my rear fogs on :-p

I witness the following:

Paddy wagon driven by female police officer with male copper in passenger's seat. Female laughing and gesticulating. Cop car arrives at a T intersection in quiet little used street in East Sydney (the rear of Bliss on Crown).

Meanwhile Joe Punter is driving his family sedan up the road with right of way. Cop, laughing and gesticulating all the while, fails to check the road before pulling out and T bones the punter in the cop wagon.

Immediately the cop puts sirens on, both cops spring out of the wagon and approach punter, who is still in shock at being rammed by a cop. Haul him out of the car and administer a breath test. Shortly thereafter two more cop cars scream up and stop, blocking the entire road.

I'm sitting on the park bench adjacent to Bliss with a work colleague (I worked at the building backing on to this road) while he smokes a cigarette and we both witnessed the entire scene.

Then the female copper that rammed the punter spots us and you can see the "oh shit" look on her face from 40 feet away.

Thats insane! I think most people shouldn't be cops, they do it for the wrong reason

God damn I hope you offered to be a witness for the poor man!

@Alex, no way you were doing 95 and he let you off like that. He probably wasn't in a good position to get your speed.

@Jeff: completely agree. I would admit to flogging it, but I certainly wasn't. As I said, 75 as an absolute max but my dial was sitting just below 70.
