Increased Emissions Light

So I am wondering if anyone else has had this problem or know how to fix it...

I currently have the Eissenman Race Exhaust and Gruppe M intake and I have had the increased emissions warning come on two different times. I am the second owner and I am guessing it was happening to the prior owner as the service history showed that he had the O2 sensors replaced and that he had the car in every few thousand miles for service. Once I purchased the car I got the warning and took it to the dealer. They reset everything and it worked for a about 1500 miles and it came on again right as I was delivering my car to the shippers to have it shipped to Germany (military move). Well, the US warranty is not valid here, so I am stuck trying to figure out the problem myself.

Do I just need to get something like the Bavarian Technic Cable Diagnostic & Reset Tool to reset it every once in a while?

Thanks

Most BMW dealerships here in Germany aren't like the ones in the States where they charge you for everything, especially when youre warranty is out. I've got an '08 M3 as well (moderately modded - see sig) and whenever something weird is going on I take it directly to my dealership. They usually get me in that day or the following day to see whats up, and if its nothing major, they fix it for me or at least let me know whats up, and see if its a factory defect. Sounds like something is going on with your O2 sensors and if you didnt do any modifications to it it should be covered eventhough your US warranty is up....dont quote me on that, if they dont cover it....do a cost analysis and get yourself an AA tune =)

Also, youre not too far away from me here in Bamberg, and I can recommend you to my dealership if you want.

On a side note, not that we're hurting on members, but are you familiar with the ///M Flight Club, we are probably the biggest all ///M Exclusive Club in Europe and I would probably go as far as saying in the world right now, shoot me a PM if your interested and I can fill you in more on details of the club.

It could just clear itself, or maybe a deleter would work or like you said, just clear it out with a code reader.

I get bent over every time I walk into the local BMW service department. Last I checked labor was 140 Euro an hour.... and don't think they are any more competent here in Germany than the States. They're not.

Sorry to hear that Moxie, where are you located at in Germany? The two BMW Autohaus' here in Bamberg have always been very accommodating.

Ok, thanks for the input. I may try to stop into the dealer her in Bad Windsheim to see what they say. I want to see if they will at least clear the code for now...and take off the speed limiter.

I was looking at the AA tunes. They only thing I am unsure about the M (versus my Chevy Duramax Tuner) is that you have to send in the ECU. Will the dealer ever try to update things and erase my tune and if so, how do I get it back?
