well listen he listed it for $29,990 its the cheapest sports luxury model is250 in australia (Granted the mileage is 134,000km) I said $25,000, he said for 25 he can wholesale it i said well mate what you want me to do miracles for you $26,500 he came back to me said at that price he won't even give the 3month warranty with it and that it'll need new tires in about 4000km, but he'll do it see the car here: http://www.carsales.com.au/all-cars/...r=7&R=10125216 see the full search here: http://www.carsales.com.au/all-cars/...carhome&Nne=15 So on top of the $26,500 freight $1140 stamp duty roughly $950 registration cost still dont know? whats 6months registration on a is250 lexus V6 worth? inspection cost for queensland transport ~ still dont know So all up could be around $29-30k to get it on road what do you reckon |

$1140 for a truck ride? A bit steep mate. Perth to Sydney is less than that.
Also as the car is being sold unregistered, can the dealer testify there is no previous write off title? (not sure what the sale laws are for dealers in SA. In NSW they cannot sell a car that has a history on revs/wovr) ps: i've seen repo'd is250s sell around that price at Fowles auction in Brisbane. If it's going to end up costing you 28-29k, might as well find one in QLD in better condition for a few extra k... |

REVs check is pretty easy to obtain, you just need to get the VIN, Engine and Rego number of the car. Then you go to http://www.revs.nsw.gov.au/ type in the particulars and it'll let you know if title is clear or not. You can even ask the dealer to show you REVS certificate, which should say no registered interest and all the vehicle details.
My only concern will be the price difference between this and the others on the market. If a car is cheap from a dealer, usually a good reason for it. I would use Toll over Ceva and pay the slight premium. CEVA uses open trucks and can pick up a fair bit of damage on the way. |

CEVA also used closed trucks, that's how I got my 135 from MEL to SYD.

Call the Registration Body in SA and ask whether the car has been written off or if there is anything untoward regarding purchasing the vehicle. Then REVS check it. Demand the dealer have an NRMA Mechanic certify the whole vehicle do not budge on this - it should be NRMA/RACQ equivalent etc, NOT the dealership). You want an independent person to look at it, so YOU choose who it is. Otherwise they'll just have the apprentice sign a document saying she's all good. If you have any friends in SA, have them check the vehicle and test drive for you. Look at any Lexus forums and have a look for common problems and issues with the car (can get this off caradvice as well). Make sure your friend tests the car. I don't know, everything seems somewhat sketchy right now... |

I am assuming you are talking to a non Lexus dealer, if so ask that the car go to a Lexus dealer for the vehicle inspection.
As others have said, it sounds too cheap relatively, I would be vary wary. |

Fair enough. Most of the ones that come up to the NT are open, I've only seen a closed one twice and they were to deliver some very special and very rare Porsches. The idiots sent up a 911 Turbo on an open truck and every single panel including the roof has extensive damage.

I think if the car is more than a certain age or more than a certain number of km (100K I think), there's no statutory warranty. Whether they include it or not is at the dealers behest.

Reasons why it is relatively cheap:
-late 2005 model (is200 was phased out mid-05) -high kms -no rego -no warranty -needs new tyres He even said he could wholesale it for 25k, which sounds reasonable given the circustances. I'd just check for any accident history... if none, go for it i say btw, my mps arrived on an open-air carrier. it was reversed ontop of the drivers cabin cleaning all that bug splatter was not fun. thankfully no damage was done. |

If it were me, I would see if you can get a cheap flight and go have a look at the car in person. It would be worth it for the piece of mind, in my opinion.
We have a car coming to Bris from Perth at the moment with Ceva (enclosed transport); from memory it was around $1500. |
