Might be leaving my 1M allocation, 1st spot in Boston, any interest?
Hey guys,
So I may be forced to relinquish my spot as the first 1M allocated to Boston. I was negotiating a European Delivery, which would still be viable according to the dealer. If anyone out there is looking to get a spot please let me know, I figured I'd try to help a fellow wrench head before throwing the spot back to the masses. Cheers. |

Production date was originally going to be end of this month. I was looking to do ED the last week of May, but my 3 preferred dates for pick up were May 26th, June 2nd, and June 9th.

Question
I hope I'm not out of line here. But if you are abdicating your spot perhaps you could sell it if the demand is there. I've seen this done on ebay before for new models that were exclusive.
I hope I didn't break any taboos here. And if I did my apologies to all. |

Selling a production number on E bay, that's prettly low in my book.

He has some leverage here, due to the fact that he is #1 on the dealer's list and every dealer in the US has been guarunteed at least one car. If he was #4 or #5 on the list it might be a different story.

who said the dealer would abide by the OP's decision to give / sell his spot to someone that the OP chose??? Its not like he "bought" his 1st in line place... I would say the dealer would just pick the next one down on THEIR list...Not the OP's espically if the dealer had nothing to gain by choosing the OP's choice. and lets be realistic here, we are not talking about the Holy Grail.. its a 1-M, as special as it is to all of us. For instance my dealer has 6 Units allocated for the entire production run 1st one is sold, second one is for showroom, third one sold.... 4,5,6, up for grabs the last i checked. ( p.s. Dealer is 4th largest single point center in the country, Hence the allocation) just my Opinion..

Probably the ridiculous lease and finance rates. I understand that BMW FS is entitled to turn a profit, but the lease rates and residuals border on price gouging. Somebody please tell me why a 135 convert at $45k can be leased for $449/mo, while a 1M at $48k is $760/mo for same months/mileage?
That's why I'm walking away from my allocation. Sure, I could finance elsewhere, but don't really want to buy the car especially with a 72 month loan term to meet my budget. I will ask the sales guy if I can give my spot to a friend - anybody interested? |

I'm hesitant to specify but let's just say it's in NoVA. I am third on the list and dealer got four cars with allocations in May, June, July, and August (mine is July).

By the way, beautiful 135 Enigma. I am actually considering taking advantage of that lease offer on the 135i I just referred to, or picking up somebody else's from Leasetrader, etc.

To everyones' questions. I may be relocating from the Boston area to NYC or California. The former would mean I'd have no need for a car, but if I end up in California it would be required. So I am waiting for some details on that. As for my spot, I have a confirmed production number as of today. I was planning to order AW with all options save Sat Radio, but that can be changed much closer to the production date if I end up giving up the spot. Any other questions? I am not sure about selling my spot, I would feel a bit greasy doing that, but if you guys think it's worth something let me know and I'd be happy to take suggestions. Thanks.

I would think you would have to confirm with your dealership or CA if you can have someone else take your spot in the allocation? Maybe you did this already?
To me, it doesnt sound like there is much room to "sell" your spot here. I could be wrong though. I do, however, think it is nice that you came on this forum and offered it up, but, I personally wouldnt ask anything for it. But thats just me... |

I don't think the CA would mind switching individuals since they will keep the sale under their name. If someone just walks away from a production number, it's up for grabs to other CAs from the same dealer.
