automatic 1M

Hi everybody!

I'm looking at these preview of the 1M and i LOVE IT!! They took the 1 series to another level. I can say that i prefer the shape of the 1M more than the M3!

Is there any chance to have in the future an automatic 1M? (i live in a big city and automatic is a salvation for my right shoulder!)

TY

Dan

Not in this generation as far as we know and given it's limited run and development costs. BMW themselves have said this will not happen.

Replacement model in a few years time may have DCT etc but that is some way off.

There are a lot of previous threads regarding this subject which you can search for.

Cheers,

Mark.

Sorry dude, but

Try

So to sum it all up, the 1M does not get:
- DCT (auto transmission)
- carbon fiber roof
- moon roof
- convertible version
- more than 3 exterial colors
- a high revving Naturally Aspirated BMW S-engine
- BMW Individual - personal preferences or options
- All the vehicles displayed so far are preproduction prototypes
- Prototypes have halogen headlights, but production receives xenon (in most countries, anyways)

If you must have one of these, go with M3.

When will an admin sticky this ??

Asking about availability of DCT at this point is an irritating faux paux.

Hoping for a slush box in the 1M is blasphemy!

Why? When either transmission would make the 1M faster than the manual being offered.
After all isn't that what this car was meant for any how?

Yeah because shifting in 25ms is not as "MANLY" as shifting in 250ms.

automatic is more manly than manual because it does not require manual stimulation ;-)

You are missing the point.
Bottom line is, it's NOT being offered on the 1M.

And besides, if you want to discuss this topic, there are several existing threads. No reason to create all these new ones.

I think the point of this car is that amount of power offered is not overwhelming to the point where most drivers would not be able: to handle driving it or to fully reach the car's potential, with a manual transmission.
Thus in keeping with the theme that this car is back to basics; simple transmission, straight forward maximum driver involvement.
If this car was meant to be as fast as humanly possible, it would carry a modified/improved M3 chassis or a up-tuned S65 or crazy boosted N54
(and of course a insane price tag as a result)

1M development was obviously very rushed, hence the lack of DCT, limited options, etc.
"Back to the root" crap is just a gimmic marketing department is trying to push for this car. Every model has to fill a niche, right.
That being said, limited quantities and all the hype created by us will allow BMW to sell 1M with a single transmission choise.

All the "REAL MEN" who drive manual transmission got fooled by that marketing gimmick. Saps.

Lol. Really. ? I love people who make comments like this. They take the entire suspension, the diff from the m3 and because there is no Dct you think that the m division was worried about making the 1m faster than an m3 and therefore that's why they left off the dct? Lol.

So you mean to tell me, it doesn't make sense that BMW would omit a feature that would make the 1M as fast as the fastest M3, which happens to cost about $12,000 more?

That doesn't sound like anything that has to do with marketing to you?

You cant be serious

Either way, I think the next generation 1M will include a DCT... and that will resolve the argument

Well yes... one of the reasons. They gave it a only slight bump in power so it wasn't faster. Obviously, putting suspension bits and diff was the cheapest way to make it 'slightly slower' than the M3.

An Automatic 1M? Just look for a used N54 135i steptronic and add in the M3 suspension, LSD and better tyres and you're good to go mate. May as well throw in a tune whilst your at it and you've got yourself a 1M
